Beautiful Sabre: A USAF Pilot's Memoir of Gunnery School and Flying the Storied F-86 F
In the spring of 1957, Edward Mills was awarded the silver wings of a pilot in the United States Air Force. Because he finished first in his pilot training class, he had his pick of assignments. To his unbounded delight, on the list of openings was one that he, and many other brand new, single-engine jet pilots, coveted above all others: the opportunity to fly the storied North American F-86F Sabre, the great, air-to-air victory bird of the Korean War.This is his story, from his days in ROTC at Princeton, through a year of pilot training in Texas, to eventually flying non-combat missions in the Beautiful Sabre-and all that transpired in between.

Jewish Pirates of the Caribbean: How a Generation of Swashbuckling Jews Carved Out an Empire in the New World in Their Quest for Treasure, Religious F
In this lively debut work of history, Edward Kritzler tells the tale of an unlikely group of swashbuckling Jews who ransacked the high seas in the aftermath of the Spanish Inquisition. At the end of the fifteenth century, many Jews had to flee Spain and Portugal. The most adventurous among them took to the seas as freewheeling outlaws. In ships bearing names such as the Prophet Samuel, Queen Esther, and Shield of Abraham, they attacked and plundered the Spanish fleet while forming alliances with other European powers to ensure the safety of Jews living in hiding. Filled with high-sea adventures including encounters with Captain Morgan and other legendary pirates Jewish Pirates of the Caribbean reveals a hidden chapter in Jewish history as well as the cruelty, terror, and greed that flourished during the Age of Discovery."

In 1870, Sir William Crookes (1832–1919) travelled to Gibraltar to observe the solar eclipse. He kept a diary and produced beautiful accounts of the expedition - alongside altogether more specific observations, including the 656 steps down a local cliff face, and every item in his luggage. It is with the same meticulous approach and cheerful prose that he records, in letters, journal articles and reports, the successes and failures of the vast range of projects in which he was involved. Although initially trained as a chemist, Crookes worked across the spectrum of the sciences, from consulting on preventative measures against cattle plague through to investigating spiritualism. Opening with a foreword by the physicist Sir Oliver Lodge, this biography by Edmund Edward Fournier d'Albe (1868–1933), first published in 1923, explores a remarkable life of enquiry through a host of first-hand sources.
