In this book you can experience exactly what the writer felt in each poem she leads you through the pivotal points of her life. You will applaud her growth through resiliency and ability to stay strong in each difficult season. Her faith that things will get better if she keeps trying is a lovely sentiment that resonates throughout this book. Elizabeth Hollinger takes us on a journey of ups and downs, she masterfully compels us to turn the next page until we are at the end of her book. Not only is this a coming-of-age story it is a story of coming face to face with the hardest things and continuing to move forward. Her message of "I'm Trying..." reaches the very core of what we all consist of, continuing our own story. We can certainly hope that means we will be reading another book from her soon.

This study of early modern queenship compares the reign of Henry VII’s queen, Elizabeth of York, and those of her daughters-in-law, the six queens of Henry VIII. It defines the traditional expectations for effective Tudor queens—particularly the queen’s critical function of producing an heir—and evaluates them within that framework, before moving to consider their other contributions to the well-being of the court. This fresh comparative approach emphasizes spheres of influence rather than chronology, finding surprising juxtapositions between the various queens’ experiences as mothers, diplomats, participants in secular and religious rituals, domestic managers, and more. More than a series of biographies of individual queens, Elizabeth of York and Her Six Daughters-in-Law is a careful, illuminating examination of the nature of Tudor queenship.

In 1929, mental health treatment was anything but a solution. With no recovery, Simon faces extremities like shock therapy, mind-numbing medications, and torture. But nothing tortures him more than his feelings for the newest patient in the insane asylum: Elizabeth Williams. With one look into her eyes, Simon finds himself lovestruck. But his pining leads to more visions, which leads to more treatments. Unable to stop the dreams, he must bear it all for her.Like every patient there, Elizabeth is a troubled young woman-with a dark secret. But nothing could prepare Simon for the darkest secret of all: Elizabeth suffers from a personality disorder. Devoted to her, Simon only sees the real Elizabeth, not the violent version of her. While the new couple falls deeper in love, the wards grow concerned that they're making their conditions worse-as if they're feeding off of each other. Realizing freedom is the only way for them to be together, Simon and Elizabeth escape with the help of an unlikely hospital source who's hiding his own secrets. Their escape proves to be temporary, as they're sent back to the asylum, where Simon's worst nightmare comes true: Elizabeth's violent personality makes an appearance and triggers repeated visions that Simon can't decipher.
