The Age of the Strongman: How the Cult of the Leader Threatens Democracy Around the World
Gideon Rachman
Other Press (NY)

sidottu
Named a Best Book of the Year by The Economist, Foreign Affairs, The Times (UK) and Sunday Times From Putin, Trump, and Bolsonaro to Erdoğan, Orb n, and Xi, an intimate look at the rise of strongman leaders around the world. The first truly global treatment of the new nationalism, underpinned by an exceptional level of access to its key actors, from the award-winning journalist and author of Easternization. This is the most urgent political story of our time: authoritarian leaders have become a central feature of global politics. Since 2000, self-styled strongmen have risen to power in capitals as diverse as Moscow, Beijing, Delhi, Brasilia, Budapest, Ankara, Riyadh, and Washington. These leaders are nationalists and social conservatives, with little tolerance for minorities, dissent, or the interests of foreigners. At home, they claim to be standing up for ordinary people against globalist elites; abroad, they posture as the embodiments of their nations. And everywhere they go, they encourage a cult of personality. What's more, these leaders are not just operating in authoritarian political systems but have begun to emerge in the heartlands of liberal democracy. Gideon Rachman has been in the same room with most of these strongmen and reported from their countries over a long journalistic career. While others have tried to understand their rise individually, Rachman pays full attention to the widespread phenomenon and uncovers the complex and often surprising interaction among these leaders. In the process, he identifies the common themes in our local nightmares, finding global coherence in the chaos and offering a bold new paradigm for navigating our world.

Flowers That Die spoils the ending, but tells you to enjoy the ride. In this collection of poems, Sad Boy is both protagonist and narrator, enchanted by beauty while seeking eternity. He crosses rainbows and falls from the clouds of love, the sting a reminder that it's all for real. Caught between prayers and punches, Sad Boy searches for satisfaction in a world where everything fades. In the end, he is neither sad nor a boy. All that remains is a covenant to dance in the sun until his face resembles a crumpled napkin.
Hope De Pinto is born into an affluent, famous, and very successful family. Over time, unexpected events cast gloomy shadows over the fame, fortune, and prestige of Hope's family and the city of Avenice that they founded. Fate places the responsibility on Hope to turn the tide of socio-economic decadence and hopelessness and regain his family's former glory. Overwhelming events beyond Hope's control threaten to derail his determined and concerted efforts. Rather than falling into a dismal pit of discouragement, Hope intentionally draws on hope to navigate seemingly insurmountable difficulties. When it appears that triumph has eluded Hope, the virtue of hope itself guides him to see a guiding light at the end of the tunnel. This reawakens the previously dormant potential in Hope to challenge and overcome the complex hurdles that stand between him and the success he desires-because Hope will not be a victim but a victor.

Food security is a multifaceted concept and extends beyond the production of, availability of, and demand for food. This book attempts to explore the meal narrations in Luke-Acts as a source for a theology of hospitality to ascertain Luke's concern for the immigrant, the poor, the homeless, the hungry, and the outcasts. This book focuses on fifteen meal scenes in Luke-Acts and contributes to Lukan scholarship on meals, particularly in addressing the issue of food insecurity. Firstly, by incorporating cultural dimensions and anthropology to understand the social context of the first-century world, this book contributes a new perspective on the Lukan audience, which was stratified by socioeconomic and religious disparities in terms of privilege, wealth, and power. Secondly, this book analyzes the Lukan concern with the social structure and the social, political, economic, and religious setting behind his emphasis on the pto set macron over o]choi and the marginalized concerning livelihood needs such as food and shelter. Thirdly, this book connects Lukan concern with contemporary theologies that include an emphasis on hunger and hospitality, such as liberation theology, Dalit theology, and practical theology. Thus, the book challenges readers and offers a few recommendations for implementations to combat hunger and destitution.

What is this book all about? This book is about the things we value most in life. And in your own personal case, the reader, you may have your own list of things that you value the most in your life. However, I will look at the some of core issues that almost every single human being on the face of the earth today values the most. These are the things that cause some of us to wake up in the morning, drive long distances or even fly to different cities and nations, stay in hotels, get into meetings and make the necessary sacrifices that we need to make to accomplish those things. These things are important in our lives and anyone who is going to tell you that these things do not really matter in their lives will be lying to you. I will be dealing with the truths of how we should never allow these things that we consider important in our lives get in the way of the life that we want to live and enjoy to the maximum. I would hate to experience a lifestyle where I am so obsessed by these things that I really do not have the time to take a break, enjoy life and replenish to get back on track again. I desire that you read this book with an open and critical mind. Examine your own life and make the quality time decision on how you want to live your life on this earth. What is your priority in life? These things that we regard as important in life or making our lives count without these things? Think about this question as you read each chapter of this book. I have included at the end of each chapter questions for personal study and group discussions/ even family discussions. Feel free to write your own notes on this book underline and highlight important principles that pop up to you from the pages as you read.Enjoy the journey.Gideon M. MwololoAuthor
The Forgotten Message: Could the Most important message be the forgotten message?

I was preparing to go out to minister in one of the towns in the Coastal Province part of Kenya, called Voi. My hosts, Home Alive church pastored by Pastor Christopher Obialor and his wife Chrisitine, once again had invited me to be a blessing to the Body of Christ. I have visited this church before and they have been great hosts to me. My friendship with the leaders and members of this congregation has grown with my last two visits. The trip to Voi was made earlier this year during my short visit to Kenya for a brief vacation and to spend time with my family members who live in Kenya. I was in Voi during the earlier part of the year for three days. During my time of prayer in my hotel room, I asked the Holy Spirit what message He had for the Body of Christ in Voi. I never step out to minister anywhere I have been invited to without first seeking God's direction. Why? Because these are God's people not my people. He knows what everybody is going through in their own personal lives and I don't. And He has a solution to their problems. And I hate going before God's people to share with them what I think God is saying to them without spending time and hearing from Him. You really cannot give what you don't have. That's another topic we have to deal with later. The impression in my spirit as I lay prostrate before God in that hotel room was very clear as the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart. He said, "Go and teach and preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. That is the message that Jesus taught and preached. That is the forgotten message that My church is not teaching and preaching today." That was it I got my marching orders and instructions from God and I immediately knew that this message, 'The Gospel of the Kingdom of God' message is the forgotten message that the Church today is not teaching and preaching. The Holy Spirit continued speaking to my heart: "If the church wants to have the same results that Jesus got when He ministered on earth, then the church must teach and preach the same message He taught and preached."Should I shout here, "Wow" or "Boom "to that powerful Word from the throne of grace? I got my Bible ready and started preparing for these meetings in Voi. I had my divine instructions from the Lord and that is all I needed from Him. My part was to obey and deliver the message He wanted me to deliver to His people. This book is about this forgotten message and why it is imperative for the church of Jesus Christ today to go back to what I may call the real basics; back to teaching and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom of God message and not the religious trash we have been teaching and preaching today. Why is this message so important to God? Are there other gospels that are being taught and preached out there? Let us take this journey together, dig deep into scriptures and find out what the Holy Spirit says about this message. This to me is the most important and forgotten message that the Church needs to return back to. I believe your life will be impacted by this message in a powerful way just as my life was and is as I continue to study and meditate on the Message of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. My prayer for you is that you will experience the Kingdom of heaven lifestyle in your own personal life as you read this book. Get ready for the journey of your life. Gideon M. MwololoAuthor.
In a world where humans have become the minority, and yet still treat their genetically engineered servants, the morphs, like virtual slaves, the anthropomorphic pit bull Spike is just trying to make a living. But he never figured on how crazy human women can be. How crazy...and how lusty.Taking a job as both trainer and breeder for a wealthy and influential human woman, Spike develops a relationship with the woman's daughter, and the girl's friends. From there, the situation just escalates, as boundaries are stretched, and then broken, with intensely erotic results. Eventually, Spike realizes that he has a social responsibility now, as a dominant alpha male among the morphs, and he begins to enact a plan that will give his people their freedom.Of course, there's going to be a whole lot of sex taking place along the way to that eventual goal: morphs are almost as lusty as human bitches in heat.
