'The Flower Book' is a charming volume, containing poems, stories and anecdotes about the wonderful array of British plants and flowers. It was written by Constance Armfield, and illustrated by Maxwell Armfield, and contains four sections: 'The Meadows and Coppice', 'The Hedge', 'The Garden, 'The Pool', and The Herb Patch.' In these sections, one can find stories and drawings regarding Snowdrops, Violets, Daffodils, Primroses, Buttercups, Bluebells, Honeysuckle, Tulips, Roses, Iris, Nasturtium, and many more. Maxwell Ashby Armfield (1881 - 1972) was an English artist, illustrator and writer. He was linked to the Arts and Crafts Movement, and studied painting in Paris. In 1909, he married the author and playwright, Constance Smedley, and from that point on, the two became close collaborators. This book is no exception, and showcases their combined knowledge of design, illustration and text. Maxwell Armfield's drawings are presented alongside Constance Armfield's 'Flower Book' - so that the two further refine and enhance the other. Pook Press celebrates the great 'Golden Age of Illustration' in children's literature - a period of unparalleled excellence in book illustration. We publish rare and vintage Golden Age illustrated books, in high-quality colour editions, so that the masterful artwork and story-telling can continue to delight both young and old.

I based this children's book on my adopted cat's first five years of her life. I pretended to see the world through her eyes in what I think is a humorous, sometimes cynical (cat lovers might say discerning) manner. Zelda is clever and learns to deal with being abandoned, adopted, other pets, adults, a scary plane trip and being neutered among other things, in a philosophical way. Zelda lived to be 22 years old and we still miss her.

Jerome Maxwell, an investigator, finds himself caught up in a serial murder case mixed alongside one of the most bizarre interactions of his life...leading up to the end of the world. The murderous John Bradley, as he is called, picks off one child after another and paints their initials on a wall for no logical reason at all. It is up to Jerome and his brother Marley to figure it all out with the assistance of a cast including the robust chief of police, an officer named Blanke, a librarian, and a young and mysterious boy. But Jerome finds himself struggling to focus on anything except the child called Ala, an undocumented ward of the local home for 'unstable children' with a surprising psychological prowess, who is driving Jerome mad. The world is ending, because the world is among us, taunting and playing games, and discovering much about itself.

Suspicious neighbors. Drug ring rumors. A nosy mom erring on the side of fantasy. It's a recipe for disaster...or untimely death.Stress? Amy Maxwell's got stress all right. She has four kids, a husband who's allergic to housework, crusted applesauce on her yoga pants, and hasn't met a meal that she can't burn in under five minutes flat. Amy's exhausted and dissatisfied with her life, feeling like she's a disappointment to everyone-her kids, her husband, and most of all, herself. To relieve her stress, Amy finds herself fantasizing about everything from the hot pool boy next door to her daughter being switched at birth. It's harmless, she thinks. That is until Jason, a very sexy forty-something moves in across the street, and Amy finds her wild imagination has gone feral. Something about Jason and his family sparks suspicion in Amy, and she launches a full-scale investigation into their origins and activities. That's when Amy and her thirteen-year-old daughter Allie stumble upon the body of another neighbor, shot in her living room. Before she knows what hit her, Amy is thrown together with Jason in the most unpredictable way. She tries desperately to halt her fantasies and deny her underlying attraction toward him as this who-done-it mystery slowly unfolds. Amy soon realizes that not only was her nosiness a mistake, it's also a mistake to trust anyone...two grave errors that just might be the death of her.

Hard-hitting and achingly real, this carefully crafted YA novel from the multi-award-winning author of My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece is a moving tale of mental health, sexuality and modern family life. Dads leave home all the time. It's not that unusual, really. Leon's dad walked out. So did Mo's. But Archie's? Well, that's a different story – a story that Archie must keep secret at all cost. Archie knows he should accept Dad for who he is, so he hides his turmoil until he can stand it no longer. With nowhere else to turn, he finds himself at the railway track. The track has been calling to him, promising escape, release. The only problem is, it's been calling to someone else too… Please note that this book contains mature content (with themes of homophobia, bullying and suicide) and language that some may find offensive. Particularly suitable for readers aged 13+ with a reading age of 9.

My Unique Relationship with Robert Maxwell: The Truth at Last
Eleanor Berry

Here we see the benevolent, unknown side of Robert Maxwell. He was a surrogate father to Eleanor on a platonic basis. He saved her life by charging into an operating theatre (not scrubbed up) and shouting, "Turn that fucking machine off!" He was referring to the deadly E.C.T (electroconvulsive therapy) now banned, which she did not need. Maxwell was always kind and generous to Eleanor although he and her Michael, who owned The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph, were very jealous of each other. Eleanor is proud to have been his friend. The Gutter press have only informed us about Maxwell's faults. Shortage of Oxygen to his brain in later life destroyed his thinking process and caused him to be autocratic and irritable. It was then that the Mirror pensions funds `Scandal' took place. He was no longer capable and it was thought to be the "bankers" who transferred the funds, adversely affecting the pensioners. Due to this impoverished childhood, Maxwell was incapable of robbing the poor. He had saint-like qualities, before his mental decline and was an exceptionally courageous war hero.
Theory of One-Dimensional Vlasov-Maxwell Equilibria

This book describes and contextualises collisionless plasma theory, and in particular collisionless plasma equilibria. The Vlasov–Maxwell theory of collisionless plasmas is an increasingly important tool for modern plasma physics research: our ability to sustain plasma in a steady-state, and to mitigate instabilities, determines the success of thermonuclear fusion power plants on Earth; and our understanding of plasma aids in the prediction and mitigation of Space Weather effects on terrestrial environments and satellites. Further afield, magnetic reconnection is a ubiquitous energy release mechanism throughout the Universe, and modern satellites are now able to make in-situ measurements with kinetic scale resolution. To keep pace with these challenges and technological developments, a modern scientific discussion of plasma physics must enhance, and exploit, its ‘literacy’ in kinetic theory. For example, accurate analytical calculations and computer simulations of kinetic instabilities are predicated on a knowledge of Vlasov–Maxwell equilibria as an initial condition. This book highlights new fundamental work on Vlasov–Maxwell equilibria, of potential interest to mathematicians and physicists alike. Possible applications involve two of the most significant magnetic structures known to confine plasma and store energy: current sheets and flux tubes.
