An ode to memory, and to the beauty of the natural world What remains of the springs, summers, autumns, and winters of a woman’s life? Isadora, now an old woman relegated to a hospice, looks back on her life and how intimately intertwined it was with that of the big, sprawling house where she spent almost her entire existence. Her memories of childhood and beyond come back to her, season by season: from the games and warmth of Summer and the back-to-school days of Autumn, to the crisp, cold days of Winter- days of loneliness and death- and to Spring’s promise of renewal, and of the return to the house that meant so much to her. Told in lyrical, beguiling language, Isadora guides the reader through the maze of her memory by classifying, like a watercolourist, her recollections by season.

An engaging look at how our life stories can enable us to tell the gospel in a way that connects effectively with people. Jesus was the master storyteller, powerfully relating accessible stories to convey the good news, and Steve Morris calls us to reclaim the art of storytelling in the church today. In a world of increasing social fragmentation and loneliness, this book demonstrates how listening to others can be transformational. When we truly hear people's stories, we begin to feel wonder at life and the way God is at work, and those telling their stories start to feel a sense of belonging. Inspiring stories are grounded by practical ideas to put storytelling at the heart of the church, and questions in each chapter encourage us all to glimpse more of God, revel in our uniqueness and realise that we all have something unique to offer as his followers. Underpinned by practical pastoral experience, this is a book full of quirky and unexpected life stories that open us up afresh to the beauty of life and our God.
Every Precious Stone: The Building of New City Fellowship
This short history of New City Fellowship arrives 50 years after the church began. In the summer of 1968 the Third Street Sunday School first met in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The intervening half-century displays how God has used little kids, untrained preachers, bathtubs, financial catastrophes, unanswered mail, flip charts, war, failed ministries, chance meetings, misunderstandings, rock 'n roll, depression, nosebleeds and a host of other strange things that you and I wouldn't dream of using to build a church.

My name is Precious Barbara Eastmond. I am a woman not unlike many of you. I had a good job, good friends and good intentions. What I wanted was someone to love; who would love me as much in return. I was a woman who had encounters in trying to find "The One." I had a satisfied vagina and a broken heart. I have had a dissatisfied vagina and ignored heart. I was wishing, hoping and praying for an ecstatic vagina and an enchanted heart. I have had men who possessed one of the qualities I was seeking. I like many of you settled for pieces, because I couldn't find a whole man. I didn't give up searching. Then it happened; I found him. Teddy is the man who had all the qualities a woman desires. Don't get me wrong Teddy isn't perfect. He is just perfect for me. Teddy gets me and lets me get him. He stimulates my mind and makes me happy. This man can also make me wetter than a waterfall and hotter than the fourth of July. I like most women, understands it takes a certain kind of love to get together. Now that I had Teddy I had to find the kind of love it takes to stay together. It will take more lust, longing, sweat, blood and tears. It will take more hoping, wishing or praying to find what I call... "A PRECIOUS KIND OF LOVE"

Relationships are built through dialogue - through exploring heartfelt questions that lead to liberating personal insights. This book shows how such dialogue can transform relationships and build community. However, true meeting and healing conversations take effort. Encounter involves light and dark. Relationships bring out sympathy and antipathy. In an age of digital communications and internet-based encounters - when alienation and loneliness are very real issues - this new edition of Margarete van den Brink's classic work is more vital than ever. The process of inner development - leading ultimately to the unification of the human self with its higher, spiritual being - involves a transformation in our everyday selves. In this act of initiation, the art of conversation plays a central role. The words which people speak to each other contain a force that can work in an invigorating and life-enhancing way. This force - which can be more precious than light itself - is the highest creative principle, the Word referred to in the Gospel of St John, which created everything that exists. Informed by the insights of anthroposophy, More Precious than Light indicates the path towards the spirit and the lost power of the Word, transforming relationships and building community. True encounter can only be fostered through building real connections with our fellow human beings.

For the Oneida people, yukwanénste has two meanings: our corn and our precious. Corn has walked alongside the Oneida and other Haudenosaunee people since creation, playing an integral role in their daily and ceremonial lives throughout their often turbulent history. The relationship between corn and the Oneida has changed over time, but the spirit of this important resource has remained by their side, helping them heal along the way. In Our Precious Corn: Yukwanénste, author Rebecca M. Webster (Kany??take·lu), an Oneida woman and Indigenous corn grower, weaves together the words of explorers, military officers, and anthropologists, as well as historic and other contemporary Haudenosaunee people, to tell a story about their relationships with corn. Interviews with over fifty Oneida community members describe how the corn has made positive impacts on their lives, as well as hopeful visions for its future. As an added bonus, the book includes an appendix of different cooking and preparation methods for corn, including traditional and modern recipes.
