Recruitment took an important place not only in the military but also in the state policy of the Russian Empire up to the beginning of the 20th century. Its history has long attracted the attention of researchers. However, despite the significant number of works on various aspects of its history, a comprehensive analysis of conscription in Zaonezhye region in the modern Russian ethnomusicology does not exist yet. Probably, this can be explained by the small volume of musical sources. The aim of this paper is thus to reconstruct in a modern museum the military service ceremonies of the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century in the Russian Transonezh region. Besides, being very actual in the practice of museums of the world and Russia, the questions of the reconstruction of traditional ceremonies in museums are, nevertheless, marginal at present. For this reason, the analysis and reconstruction of the recruit ritual will enable us to formulate the question of ways and methods for constructing ritual reality in the museums of the 21st century. This work is of interest to musicians, ethnographers, folklorists, ethnomusicologists, historians, sociologists and culturologists.

The Odzukru people, established in the south of C te d'Ivoire, on the north-western bank of the Ebri lagoon, were formed between the 16th and 18th centuries by populations coming from the Krou and Akan countries. After the formation of the people, the Odzukru set up initiation rites in the 18th century to educate and train their youth. These were the "Low" for boys and the "D diakp" for girls. Training in political and social life was extended to adults with the institution in the 19th century of the rites of the "Eb-Eb" or coronation of rulers and the "Agbadzi".

In this master's research, defended in 2013, the author lists four short stories from Marina Colasanti's The Leopard is a Delicate Animal: "Girl in Red on the Way to the Moon"; "The Leopard is a Delicate Animal"; "The Rules of the Game" and "Without Kneeling". The stories present rites of passage in different contexts, although they share the same metamorphic dynamic, characterised by passages, because there is a correspondence between the different modes of passage: from darkness to light, from the pre-existence of a human race to manifestation (mythical ancestor), from life to Death and the new post-mortem experience (the soul). The tales present characters who find themselves in transitional situations, of rupture and which lead them to a significant existential change. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to investigate the representations of rites in a contemporary and feminine narrative based on contemporary theorists such as Giorgio Agamben and Judith Butler, among others.

This book explores 21st century Korean society on the basis of its dramatically transforming and rapidly expanding commercial funeral industry. With insights into contemporary Confucianism, shamanism and filial piety, as well as modernisation, urbanisation, the division of labour and the digitalisation of consumption, it is the first study of its kind to offer a sophisticated, integrated sociological analysis of how the commodification of death intersects with capitalism, popular culture and everyday life in contemporary Korea. Through innovative analyses of funeral advertising and journalism, screen and literary representations of funerals, online media, consumer accounts of using funeral services and other sources, it offers a complex picture of the widespread effects of economic development, urbanisation and modernisation in South Korean society over the past quarter century. In the aftermath of the Korean “economic miracle” novel ways of paying respect to deceased kin have emerged; using Max Weber's concept of “pariah capitalism”, Gil-Soo Han shows how the heightened obsession with and boom in the commodification of death in Korea reflects radical transformations in both capital and culture.Winner of Korean Education Minister’s Book Prize 2020

"You're in for a great ride of twists and turns. A novel for our time. Irresistible." - Odile Hellier, author of Village Voices Sherry McManus, a New York photographer of musicians in concert, has been around the block in love. As she begins a relationship with Thomas G. Paine, she asks herself: Is the pursuit of happiness worth the risk? Tom, a formerly best-selling author who hasn't published a book in seven years, is trying to get his life back on track a year after separating from his wife. Although unrelated to Tom Paine the revolutionary, he has built his career publishing novels under the titles of his famous namesake: Common Sense, The American Crisis. Sherry and Tom play a game in bed, telling stories as a prelude to sex. As he at last begins a new book, neither can imagine that their entanglement will upend both their lives and spark a national conversation about artistic legitimacy and the rights of women.
