Nos ltimos anos, a cirurgia virtualmente planeada tem sido progressivamente utilizada na reconstru o de defeitos de maxillectomia e mandibulectomia t o grandes. O conceito de cirurgia assistida por computador utiliza a simula o cir rgica e o desenho tridimensional (3-D) assistido por computador/fabrica o assistida por computador (CAD/CAM), originalmente introduzido para fins de precis o e para diminuir a morbilidade, utiliza ferramentas como guias de corte em vez de depender exclusivamente da aproxima o manual intra-operat ria para a reconstru o facial. O planeamento CAD/CAM para cirurgia ajuda a criar e fabricar dispositivos cir rgicos personalizados para procedimentos como transfer ncias de retalhos livres de osso vascularizado ou como guias cir rgicos para ressecar os defeitos do esqueleto craniomaxilofacial.

Das Konzept der computergest tzten Chirurgie nutzt die chirurgische Simulation und die dreidimensionale (3-D) computergest tzte Planung/Computerfertigung (CAD/CAM), die urspr nglich aus Gr nden der Pr zision und zur Verringerung der Morbidit t eingef hrt wurde und Hilfsmittel wie Schneideschablonen verwendet, anstatt sich bei der Gesichtsrekonstruktion ausschlie lich auf die intraoperative manuelle Ann herung zu verlassen. Die CAD/CAM-Planung f r die Chirurgie hilft bei der Entwicklung und Herstellung ma geschneiderter chirurgischer Ger te f r Verfahren wie vaskularisierte freie Knochentransfers oder als chirurgische Schablonen zur Resektion von Defekten des kraniomaxillofazialen Skeletts.
