Thia discourse explains the nature, function and relationships of spirit, will, ego and minds. Spirit is our true nature and ego is the "error of creation". We must each exercise our will to express spiritual principles and block the destructive expression of ego.

When we rewind history back to Abraham's era, we encounter people who concocted false superstitions to explain the unexplainable. Powerful kings claimed to be gods, building massive pyramids to achieve immortality. Out of this mass of misunderstandings, one man emerged. The man we know today as Abraham not only claimed that one true Creator existed but also staked his entire life on this belief. Why, thousands of years later, are we still discussing the faith of this desert nomad? One of America's most popular Bible teachers, Pastor Chuck Swindoll, answers that question and many more in this compelling and insightful biography that will inspire your own faith.

Known as "The Peanut Butter Brothers" for their Wisconsin family business, hardworking Andrew, Abraham, and Austin Petersheim have their plates too full for romance--until their little siblings decide to play matchmaker . . . With their house full to bursting since Mammi and Dawdi moved back in, the Petersheim twins know the only way to get their bedroom back is to get their older brothers married off. But Abraham is so shy, he'll barely speak to girls. Still, they've noticed how he looks at Emma Wengerd at church. Emma is so talkative, Abraham's quiet ways wouldn't matter a bit. Soon, the boys have hatched a scheme that sends Abraham right to Emma's door--and her chicken coop . . . Abraham doubts that pretty, popular Emma would be interested in him. Yet when he finds himself by her side, having to straighten out the twins' mischief--more than once--he can't help imagining a future with her. And the more time they spend together, the more Abraham realizes that perhaps no matter how many boys buzz around Emma, with faith, it's only the right one that counts . . . Praise for Jennifer Beckstrand and her Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series "Full of kind, sincere characters struggling with the best ways to stay true to themselves and their beliefs." --Publishers Weekly "A heart-warming story of faith, hope, and second chances. The story will captivate readers who love the Amish culture and enjoy an endearing romance." --Amy Clipston, bestselling author of A Seat by the Hearth

Terence E. Fretheim

In an inviting style that showcases his literary discernment, theological sophistication, and passion for the biblical text, Terence E. Fretheim turns his attention to one of the most dramatic stories of the Old Testament - that of Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, Isaac, and Ishmael. Through close readings of ""Genesis"" 12 through 25, Fretheim guides readers through the intricacies of the plot, from God's surprising call to Abraham to leave home and family to God's enigmatic commands to evict one son and sacrifice another. Extending the vein of analysis in which he previously has written to wide acclaim, Fretheim examines Abraham's family and assesses the significant roles it plays across three religions - Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Relating biblical narrative to theological concerns, Fretheim wrestles with such controversial concepts as God's selection of an elect people, the gift of land and other promises, the role of women and outsiders, the character of God, and the suffering of innocents. In addition, Fretheim contributes to the increasingly important interreligious dialogue surrounding Abraham by examining the continuing conversation among Muslims, Christians, and Jews about the place of Hagar and Ishmael in Abraham's family. Throughout the text, Fretheim frames the narrative as rooted in the trials of family and faith that define the story of Abraham as the father of three religions.

Join us in this study of Abraham as he teaches us what it is to live by faith. The story of Abraham covers approximately one-quarter of the book of Genesis and one-third of Hebrews 11. The Word of God teaches us that God called Abraham to live by faith. The lessons from Abraham's life of faith are key for us today. Like Abraham, God has called each of his children to a life of faith. May we learn much from his life as we journey through this study I challenge each of you to pray that God would open your eyes and your understanding as we open the Word of God in this book and journey through the life of the man who is known as the friend of God. May this book help us draw near to our Lord and deepen our faith in Him.

This book deals with Abraham's reluctance to die and the means by which his death was brought about. God sends the archangel Michael to take Abraham to his death. When Abraham refuses, God eventually send in the Angel of Death, but not before showing Abraham some of the beauties of heaven and earth. A rare and thought-provoking story, which was long ago removed from the Bible.

Hiding under a bed in an abandoned apartment, the morning after the soldiers killed his sister right in front of him, Abraham hears the cries of a baby coming from somewhere in the apartment. He finds a baby German girl, starving, ashen and cold, wrapped in a Nazi flag . Abraham believes that he is the soul living survivor of his family, not knowing that his father is alive and has been moved to the Ghettos. The story travels alongside both of them, their journeys of survival, their trials and horrors of this war. Abrahams life becomes about survival and keeping this baby alive and safe. While Abba (Abrahams father) is drawn deeper into the darkest side of the human condition. It is a heartbreaking journey of hope, set in wartime Poland, Germany and Austria. Although the characters are fictional, most of the accounts within are real. The Author interviewed Holocaust survivors and was given permission to interweave their stories into the life of Abraham and his father Abba. Somewhere off in the distance of this story, there exists the faintest light, that rises up throughout the slow and sad ache of darkness that surrounds them, giving both the characters and the reader - hope First review on Goodreads: S. Soper/10/20/2019 Abraham was one of the best books I've ever read Putting aside the very harsh and hard reality of the world he lived in at the time, it was a pleasure to get to know Abraham and his family. I find myself thinking often about him and wondering what he would do in certain circumstances. This book opened my eyes a little wider to the struggle people faced at the hands of the morally wicked. I have acquired a little deeper appreciation for all the comforts and freedoms I have taken for granted growing up, as this novel draws you in and really challenges you to confront and re-evaluate your own inner feelings of tolerance, family, hate, trust, hope, perseverance and most importantly, love. Set during a time of unimaginable devastation, Abraham was a very hard book to read in parts because no one likes to read about the horrors that mankind suffers at the hands of our fellow man, but at the same time, it also tells the story of one mans triumph over evil, and in this day and age, we all need just a little more faith that there is good in the world. This book offers that slice of hope and really showcases the power love has to overcome the most horrific of circumstances. I feel this book is a must read
