Tutkahistoriaa toisesta maailmansodastaTutka oli toisen maailmansodan merkittävimpiä keksintöjä. Neuvostoliitolla oli käytössään ilmavalvontatutkia jo talvisodan aikana Karjalan kannaksella. Britit hankkivat ilmavalvontatutkien avulla torjuntavoiton Luftwaffesta taistelussa Britanniasta 1940. Tutkien avulla torjuttiin pommikoneita, kamikaze-lentäjiä ja V1-aseita. Tutkat näyttelivät tärkeää osaa sekä ilmahyökkäyksissä että ilmapuolustuksessa. Samalla sai alkunsa elektroninen sodankäynti.Suomen ilmapuolustus oli jatkosodan alussa vaikeuksissa yöpommitusten torjunnassa. Ongelmaan löytyi ratkaisu, kun Saksasta hankittiin vuonna 1943 ilmapuolustukselle uusi "salainen ase" - radioluotain eli tutka. Ilmavalvontatutkien (Raija) avulla saatiin ennakkovaroitus lähestyvistä viholliskoneista, tulenjohtotutkien (Irja) avulla ilmatorjuntatykistö voi tulittaa pommikoneita tehokkaasti myös pimeällä. Tutkien ansiosta Neuvostoliiton suurpommitukset helmikuussa 1944 Helsinkiä ja Kotkaa vastaan kyettiin torjumaan vähin tappioin. Suomen ilmapuolustus siirtyi tutkakauteen juuri oikeaan aikaan.Tutkahistorian kirjoittajat, everstit (evp) Perttu Peitsara ja Ahti Lappi, ovat Suomen ilmapuolustuksessa pitkään palvelleita, kokeneita alansa asiantuntijoita.

The Ma‘asé-Ester, “Esther’s affairs”, is a 14th-century Judeo-Provençal poem on the story of Esther, intended for a recital during the banquet for Purim. The short poem – recently discovered in the single manuscript that preserves it – is a new precious document that enriches a small corpus of medieval Judeo-Provençal texts. This book offers the first critical edition of the complete text accompanied by a detailed study of the sources and the language. It guides us in understanding why the story of Esther became such a popular theme in 14th-century Provence, and in what way the Avignon Papacy and the studies on Moses Maimonides influenced this literary novelty.
