Jesus and the Geography of Spiritual Warfare: A Bible Study by Chuck Huckaby
Is everything you "know" about the Bible Wrong? To be honest, probably not But like most people, it's easy to overlook the names of places in Bible lands like "Bashan", "Caesarea Philippi" or "Mount Hermon". It's especially easy to overlook key words in the original text like "Rephaim" and "Elohim" because our English translations often don't bother to translate them in a way that preserves their full meaning. (In reality, it's probably impossible to translate many of these terms in ways that capture the entire range of meaning of these terms.)And there's something else at work that may keep us from understanding the Bible on the Bible's terms... many times we do not understand that the Old Testament saints and early Christians themselves had a "supernatural view of the Bible" we don't. They considered the events of Genesis 6:1-4 in a way very differently than modern Christians, especially "Christian Commentators". When this passage is understood. in a supernatural light, it helps make sense of the Bible in a way "picking and choosing" interpretations simply don't. Add all these problems up, and we can miss much of the meaning of the Bible. It's understandable. Our attitude is "let's just get on with the action and the words "But the words and actions of Jesus CAN take on a significantly bold and powerful meaning when we finally understand the geographical background and related spiritual history of key places and concepts. This is especially true in regard to the topic of Jesus and Spiritual Warfare Once we see where Jesus asks his disciples key questions... and where key events transpire... and understand the deep spiritual history of those places, suddenly Jesus becomes more precious than ever and the mission of the church becomes more clear than ever before Check it out for yourself You're guaranteed to be amazed

Offering a world full of traumatized characters trapped in a consumerist society where men, women, sex and gender have become unstable commodities, Chuck Palahniuk has become one of the most controversial of contemporary novelists. This book is the first guide to bring together scholars from a full range of critical perspectives to explore three of Palahniuk's most widely-studied novels: Fight Club, Invisible Monsters and Choke. Examining these works in light of such key critical themes as violence, masculinity, postmodern aesthetics and trauma, the book also explores the ethical dimension of Palahniuk's work that is often lost in the heat of the controversies surrounding his books. Together with annotated guides to further reading, Chuck Palahniuk also includes section introductions surveying the contexts and reception of each novel, making this an essential guide for students and scholars of contemporary literature.

With the success of Fight Club, his novel-turned-movie, Chuck Palahniuk has become noticed for accurately capturing the exploitation of power in America in the 21st century. With cynicism and skepticism, he satirizes the manipulative aspects of ideologies and beliefs pushing society's understanding of the norm. In this work, Palahniuk's characters are analyzed as people who rebel against the systems in control. Mikhail Bakhtin's theory is applied to explain Palahniuk's application of the comic grotesque; theories from Louis Althusser and Slavoj Žižek help reveal aspects of ideology in Palahniuk's writing.
