Craig & Fred: A Marine, a Stray Dog, and How They Rescued Each Other
A heartwarming story of a stray dog and a U.S. Marine who met under the unlikeliest circumstances in Afghanistan--and who changed each other's lives forever. As part of an elite team of Marines, Craig Grossi was sent on his most dangerous assignment to the Sangin District of Afghanistan. He expected to face harsh conditions and violence from Taliban fighters. What he didn't expect was to meet a stray dog, with a big goofy head and little legs--a dog all on his own, filthy and covered in bugs, in a bomb-ridden district, but who carried himself with confidence. And even though the Marines have a rule against approaching strays, Craig couldn't help but offer some food and a pat--and was shocked when the dog wagged his tail. From that moment on, they were inseparable; whether out on missions or back at the base, the dog named Fred went along. When the time came for Craig to leave Afghanistan, he knew that Fred had to leave with him no matter what. And as Craig tried to get acclimated to civilian life, Fred was there for him. This audiobook tells the inspiring story of two friends who ultimately rescued each other, and the stubborn positivity and love that continue to shape their world.

Beginning his career at the age of just nine at Bristol Rovers, Bellamy then came through the youth system at Norwich City before breaking into the first team as an 18 year old and writing his name into club history by scoring the Canaries 5,000th competitive goal in 1998. But real fame was to come at Newcastle United, as Bellamy forged a partnership with former England superstar Alan Shearer. Controversy was never far away, however, and a series of alleged arguments and bust-ups tainted his time at the club and he was sent on loan to Celtic before signing for Blackburn Rovers in 2005. He was a key part of the team that finished 6th in the Premier League - a vast improvement on previous years' performances - and finally he began to appear on the radar of the biggest clubs in the country. In 2006, Liverpool swooped in with a GBP6.5million bid and Bellamy was off to Anfield. Yet again, he would make headlines both on and off the pitch, with a training-ground incident involving a golf club and John Arne Riise leading to both players being fined two weeks' wages. Bellamy then signed for West Ham in 2007 and Manchester City in 2009, where he marked his debut with a goal against former club Newcastle United. Fans immediately warmed to him as he contributed goal after goal - most notably notching up two against Manchester United, a feat that endeared him to everyone at Eastlands! But in 2010 Bellamy began to hint at retirement, and agreed to a season-long loan spell with his hometown club, Cardiff City. Loved by Wales fans for his unstinting loyalty to the cause, along with his famous goal against Italy in a Euro 2004 qualifier, Craig Bellamy is as fascinating a personality as he is a footballer. This is the amazing story of one of Wales' favourite sons.

The book is a story of a fifteen year old boy who accidently comes upon a dormant flying saucer. Craig is hiking alone in the mountains on his way to fish in Pristine Lake in Montana. The flying saucer has lain dormant on the ledge of a limestone cliff since its shutdown two hundred years before. The young boy's brain waves re-activate the flying saucer for its new teenage boy commander. After returning home Craig must prove to his parents that he is telling them the truth about finding and now being the commander of a flying saucer. his parents are in tears fearing their son has suffered a severe head injury while hiking. What else would account for such a bizarre story? To prove to them he doesn't have a head injury Craig telepathically tells, Eck, the on-board computer, to fly the UFO to the field below his parents hillside home. Upon arrival of the flying saucer, now hovering over the corn field pandemonium ensues. The local television station reporters arrive on scene to investigate the UFO sighting. Also, Americans and Russian military units have spotted the UFO on their radar screens. Now, it is a race by two Russian spies stationed in the United States to find the UFO before the United States Air Force can locate it. The book includes many humorous adventures. One is where Craig has Eck, the on-board computer, fly the UFO over the high school stadium during a night football game. He too shows it to his girlfriend, still unaware that the Soviet spies are now trying to capture him and his flying saucer. Craig doesn't have a clue on how his life will be changed. He is completely unaware of the ramifications of his having complete control over an alien space vehicle. Now, he has Russian spies after him and the U.S. Air Force hot on his trail. This book is an exciting read for those with imagination.
