John Rogerson is a scholar who has dedicated much of his academic life to probing the possibility of the abiding significance of the Old Testament for moral issues today. In September of 1956 seven special children were born in the small west Texas town of Eastland. The story follows Derek and Verna Calloway in their quest to reunify the second entity through the death of the remaining gifted. It also spends time with two of the gifted, as they discover what is happening and join forces to try and stop it.

The American Claimant is an 1892 novel by American humorist and writer Mark Twain. Twain wrote the novel with the help of phonographic dictation, the first author (according to Twain himself) to do so.This was also (according to Twain) an attempt to write a book without mention of the weather, the first of its kind in fictitious literature. Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835 - April 21, 1910), better known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American writer, entrepreneur, publisher and lecturer. Among his novels are The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885), the latter often called "The Great American Novel".
