But now she may be in danger. Disappointed at missing a trip to the Lakes, she has befriended the Italian wife of an English baronet and accompanied them to Venice. Now there is cholera in Italy, and no news has reached Longbourn for months, apart from a cryptic note handed to a stranger. Darcy sails for Venice, to find Elizabeth trapped in a romantic intrigue. She longs to return to England, but first he must pry her away from the Italian family and persuade her to join him on the long journey home. Meanwhile, Napoleon has escaped from Elba, throwing Europe into confusion as Britain and her allies prepare for another war with France ... They never dreamt the danger of Jane Austen Initially, the residents of Longbourn, Netherfield, and Pemberly had no reason to be wary. Miss Austen seemed merely a mild spinster who attended parties and asked benign questions about this cousin or that aunt. No one suspected her devious purpose: the creation of novels based upon persons of her acquaintance. It was much too late for poor George Wickham when Pride and Prejudice became all the rage. Of course, he was nothing like his odious fictional counterpart, which is what he hopes to clarify in this retelling of the events as they truly occurred. Miss Austen obviously warped reality, resulting in three hundred-odd pages of absolute rot. Whereas Wickham has never aspired to sainthood, he contends that the authoress greatly exaggerated his shortcomings. He now attempts to reconstruct the true love story so poorly delineated in that dreadful Pride and Prejudice. Four decades may have passed, but Wickham remembers all and now pays tribute to those so smeared by that awful Miss Austen.

Inspired by Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice comes "Darcy's Melody." In the year 1811 the war with France continues to rage, sending many injured men home to England where accommodations are limited. Raising funds to build an additional structure at the London Hospital for the wounded has become a top priority for Lady Eleanor Fitzwilliam, Countess of Matlock. She has not only enlisted members of the "ton" to assist with her committee, but women who are well-known throughout the trade community. It is within this endeavor that Elizabeth Bennet and Georgiana Darcy meet through a mutual love of music. This is the story of how music and friendship bring two families together, challenging Fitzwilliam Darcy to embrace a new melody within his heart.
