Brian Evenson delves deeply into the pages of Chester Brown's (Louis Riel, Paying for It) seminal comic-book Yummy Fur, from its beginnings as a mini comic to its afterlife in the graphic novels it spawned. Brian's comics archaeology excavates the discarded fragments of Brown's masterpiece Ed The Happy Clown, examines the never re-printed adaptions of the Gospels, considers the juxtaposition of religion and absurdism, and meditates on the pleasures of reading serialized pamphlet comic books. The book also features a new interview with Chester Brown, shining a new spotlight on this important work. Brian Evenson is the author of eleven prize-winning books of fiction, including The Open Curtain, Last Days, Windeye, and Immobility. His work has been translated into over a dozen languages. He lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island, where he teaches at Brown University.

The Ice Plant

“From chicken to sheep, frogs to dogs, each of the creatures seems to ask: “You looking at me? Who are you?” –American Photo Animals That Saw Me, Volume Two presents a new collection of photographs from the observational wanderings of Ed Panar, author of Animals That Saw Me, Volume One (2011, now out of print). This body of work, encompassing recent pictures and newly discovered gems from Panar’s vast back catalogue, records a series of brief, often strangely amusing moments in which nonhuman species (mammal, reptile, bird or insect) seem to behold the human photographer. Edited for the viewer’s maximum delight, the photos convey a whimsical concept with surprisingly complex ramifications under the surface. Why do we distinguish between “us” and “them,” and what exists in the space between these distinctions? What does it mean to make “eye contact” with another species? What does the presence of a camera add to this phenomenon? Channeling the same thoughtful humor, wonder and peculiar engagement with the world that made the first volume of Animals That Saw Me an instant hit, this second installment also includes an original essay by acclaimed speculative realist philosopher Timothy Morton.

The is the first publication to focus on Ed Ruscha’s (born 1937) Ribbon Word works, begun in 1966. It features reproductions of more than 50 masterpieces, along with three essays by the show’s curator Dieter Buchhart, as well as contributions by Glenn O’Brien and Alexandra Schwartz, highlighting the works’ wide array of subtle color and nuanced drawing technique, and showing how Ruscha’s paper ribbons became three-dimensional, illusionistic objects. Ruscha developed this body of work from calligraphic lines and cursive handwriting in order to give his drawings the appearance of three-dimensional forms. His imaginary ribbon-word objects provoke multiple cultural meanings as they suggest sculptures modeled by light. Ruscha’s breathtaking work, using an inimitable trompe l’oeil technique with the application of gunpowder, constitutes a major contribution to 20th-century art.

Erectile dysfunction can be defined medically as the inability of a man to attain or sustain an erection long enough for intercourse. Almost all men experience one form of sexual dysfunction at one point in their lives. Having erectile dysfunction shouldn't stop you from living your life to the fullest. Gynecomastia can lead to more than just a feminized appearance to the chest. It can also lead a man to feel depression and a sense that he is less of a man than his peers because of his appearance. Although gynecomastia is often reversible, many men resort to surgical procedures to resolve their gynecomastia, including men who develop gynecomastia as a result of anabolic steroid use. This book will provide you with all the information you ever wanted to know about these conditions that impact millions of men.
