This book was written to help college students understand physics without complicated math. Each year thousands of college students pursuing business and humanities degrees find themselves taking a course in introductory physics. But many will have serious trouble solving physics problems because they do not have enough experience using mathematical equations. Understanding physics is challenging without a strong math background, but not impossible. Unlike other introductions to physics, this book explains the basic concepts in classical mechanics with a minimal amount mathematical expressions so new students can spend their time learning physics, not math. The result is not only a better understanding of physics, but possibly a better grade. This study guide covers the three aspects of classical mechanics: basics of motion, rules for gravitational interaction among two or more objects, and rotational motion. The bottom line is that this book was written to help students better understand the mathematical parts of undergraduate classical mechanics so they can concentrate on learning physics, not math.

The book is the first attempt to offer a holistic and integrated exploration of the political-economic framework underpinning economic regionalism. In doing so it provides a much-needed contribution to the literature on international political economy, international relations and Asian political economy in relation to economic regionalism. The existing literature provides broad generalizations and limited discussion on economic integration (i.e. free trade agreements, FTA) with most analyses of regionalism generally contained to the field of economics with a focus on the welfare implications of FTAs, both for participating countries and the world as a whole. Readers of this book can view economic regionalism from a variety of perspectives with input from Chinese, Japanese and Korean research institutes, business and industry groups, and government officials. Drawing on the considerable country experience and expertise of the authors, the book attempts to unravel the paradox of the market-driven economic globalization process (regionalism) and address a serious gap in the current literature relating to the political-economic characteristics and strategies of China, Japan and Korea in relation to economic regionalism.

It is often thought that small party survival or failure is a result of institutional constraints, the behavior of large parties, and the choices of individual politicians. Jae-Jae Spoon, in contrast, argues that the decisions made by small parties themselves determine their ability to balance the dual goals of remaining true to their ideals while maximizing their vote and seat shares, thereby enabling them to survive even in adverse electoral systems.Spoon employs a mixed-methods approach in order to explore the policy, electoral, and communication strategies of West European Green Parties from 1980 to the present. She combines cross-national data on these parties with in-depth comparative case studies of two New Politics parties, the French and British Green Parties, that have survived in similar national-level plurality electoral systems. Both of these parties have developed as organizations which run candidates in elections at the local, national, and European levels in their respective countries. The parties’ survival, Spoon asserts, results from their ability to balance their competing electoral, policy, and communication goals.
