The Armor of Victory

The Armor of Victory

Janet M Magiera

Light of the Word Ministry
2017
pokkari
We are at war and the warfare is spiritual God's plan of salvation is fulfilled in Christ, and everyone who believes in Christ as Lord has received an overwhelming victory in him. The victory is won, but we must appropriate it into our lives on a daily basis by putting on the whole armor of God. This is necessary for every believer to do, so it is critical for us to understand HOW we are to fight in the battle. Ephesians 6 declares that we are to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. We are to put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the tactics of the Evil One. To put on the whole armor of God is to be clothed with HIS power in practical application. This book exposes the strategy of the Enemy and unfolds an understanding of how the armor of God is to be utilized to walk victoriously against the principalities and powers on high. We have been given the Armor of Victory
The Fence of Salvation

The Fence of Salvation

Janet M Magiera

Light of the Word Ministry
2018
pokkari
The Fence of Salvation is an allegory, an extended metaphor, of some of the basic concepts of Christianity such as love, faith, forgiveness, mercy, justification, sanctification and redemption. These concepts are explained from the Hebrew and Aramaic "word pictures." Each letter of the ancient Hebrew alphabet was originally a picture of something from everyday life that became a stylized pictograph in early Semitic writing. When these pictographs or letters are joined together to form words, the word pictures provide a simple understanding of difficult concepts. The door of life into the fence of salvation is Jesus Christ, the author of salvation. We are connected to the fence by the Spirit of Holiness. And the fence of salvation surrounds believers as a haven of refuge that is rich with God's goodness, care, protection and provision. What an exciting picture of salvation

An Introduction to the Psychology of Humor presents comprehensive research from ten psychological perspectives: cognitive, biological, personality, social, cross-cultural, developmental, health, positive, clinical, and applied. This accessible overview explores how humor contributes to cognitive functioning, social relationships, and overall well-being, while examining its role in coping mechanisms, creativity, and emotional regulation. The second edition includes expanded coverage of humor during the COVID-19 pandemic, humor in social media, artificial intelligence and humor, and recent theoretical developments. The book features student-friendly elements including learning objectives, theoretical assumptions for each perspective, clear definitions of key terms, illustrative examples from humour studies, and detailed methodology and findings. Each chapter concludes with a recap of main points, suggested classroom activities, and a study guide with concept questions. With over 600 cited papers, this text connects humor research to fundamental concepts across all areas of psychology. Written primarily for psychology undergraduates who typically receive limited exposure to humour research, this book fills an important gap in psychology education. The content is equally valuable for instructors seeking to incorporate humour research into various psychology courses, as the material connects to all major psychological paradigms. Students and teachers alike will appreciate the thought-provoking explanations, examples, and classroom activities that demonstrate humor’s significance in human cognition, social dynamics, and mental health.

Bilingual Pre-Teens

Bilingual Pre-Teens

Janet M. Fuller

Routledge
2017
nidottu
This volume examines the connection between socio-economic class and bilingual practices, a previously under-researched area, through looking at differences in bilingual settings that are classified as "immigrant" or "elite" and are thus linked to socio-economic class categories. Fuller chooses for this examination bilingual pre-teen children in Germany and the U.S. in order to demonstrate how local identities are embedded in a wider social world and how ideologies and identities both produce and reproduce each other. In so doing, she argues that while pre-teen children are clearly influenced by macro-level ideologies, they also have agency in how they choose to construct their identities with relation to hegemonic societal discourses, and have many other motivations and identities aside from social class membership which shape their linguistic practices.
Developmental Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Adults
Developmental Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Adults outlines a new cognitive approach that combines existing CBT theory and strategies with a lifespan developmental psychopathology perspective. The major focus is on the relationship between mastery of normative psycho-social developmental tasks and mental health. Primary targets for therapy are maladaptive developmental pathways that have significantly disrupted the client’s ability to cope with normal adult tasks and challenges. The book builds on standard cognitive therapy models and techniques, while providing further assessment and therapy strategies to address patterns interfering with resolution of normative adult tasks and roles. It introduces several new developmental assessment and therapy strategies, designed to address client difficulties with normal adult developmental tasks and to identify longstanding maladaptive pathways maintaining these difficulties. The book offers a variety of psycho-social developmental task difficulties in occupational, social, and family functioning. The clinical examples provide a deeper understanding of pathways to competence, as well as pathways to deviance, and the contrast between normal and atypical processes as they emerge at different developmental periods.
