Will she trust the man who betrayed her ... or watch her world fall into darkness? Enemies-to-lovers. Slow-burn steam and a morally grey hero you'll never forget. Celtic mythology meets Frog Prince vibes. The epic conclusion to a Romantasy duology perfect for fans of LJ Andrews and Rachel Gillig. A year ago, Lara's husband double-crossed her and stole half her kingdom. Now her former overkings circle like hungry wolves at her borders. But a far greater threat has awakened. The Shattered Crown-a broken stone circle in the north-has become a conduit for chaos. The veil between worlds is tearing apart, unleashing vengeful spirits upon the mortal realm. The Slew and other nightmares bent on destruction now hunt her people. Only an impossible alliance between three sworn enemies can seal the breach and stop the rising tide of evil. But can a betrayed queen, a treacherous half-blood, and the enigmatic Raven Queen set aside their hatred to save both human and fae ... or will Albia burn? From best-selling author Jayne Castel comes a Romantic Fantasy duology set in the same world as The Enforcer's Bride, where druids, mortals, and Fae collide with Celtic myth. If you love stories with The Frog Prince vibes, revenge, and redemption-and if you like fierce heroines, and feral and flawed heroes-you won't be able to put down this addictive Romantasy. Note: THE BURNING CROWN is Book Two of a duology (with a storyline that spans both novels) that begins with THE QUEEN AND THE HALF-BLOOD. It's not recommended to dive into this story without reading Book One first.

People today remember Jayne Mansfield as a famous Hollywood movie star. However, she starred in only three American movies before moving to low-budget European films. She was a master of publicity who appeared in newspapers across the nation almost daily. The media focused on her figure and her stormy love life. Through her constant exposure in the press, she gave the public the false impression that she was a major movie star. This book charts the captivating life and career of Jayne Mansfield. A biography overviews her rise to fame, her three marriages and five children, and her death in a grisly automobile accident at an early age. The chapters that follow are each devoted to her performances in a particular genre, such as film, stage, and television. Each chapter contains annotated entries for her work in that media, providing cast and credit listings, plot summaries, review excerpts, and commentary. Appendices list her appearances on magazine and record covers, and an annotated bibliography discusses additional sources of information.

The first definitive biography of tragicomic sex symbol Jayne Mansfield, one of the most colorful and eccentric movie stars of the 1950s-60s. The book examines both her life and her career, detailing her movie, TV and stage work, as well as her drive to become an old-fashioned movie star at the end of the big-studio era.Jayne Mansfield: The Girl Couldn't Help It follows Jayne from her birth in 1933 through her early days as a starlet, her sudden fame as a Broadway star, and her too-brief years as 20th Century-Fox's threat to Marilyn Monroe. After three hit films, showing what a talented actress she was, Jayne found herself cut loose and floundering, in ever-cheaper and worse films.Jayne's private life will be examined as well: her expertise as a publicity magnet, her relationship with the press and her fans; her three marriages and many affairs, and her well-meaning but ill-equipped parenting skills. The rumors around her death will be addressed, via nearly 100 pages of police reports.Among the people interviewed for this book are her third husband, her lover shortly before Mariska Hargitay was born (the only interview he has ever given about Jayne), the man who published her 1963 memoirs, the inventor of the Jayne Mansfield Hot Water Bottle, and Loni Anderson, who portrayed Jayne in a 1980 TV-movie.Including 70 photos, The Girl Couldn't Help It will finally set straight many misconceptions about Jayne Mansfield, and will provide a fair and balanced, sympathetic but clear-eyed portrait of one of show business's most bizarre and endearing icons.

Jayne's Life Sentence
I was born in Londonderry/Derry, into an impovrished mixed religion family during Northern Ireland's troubles. Unlike a lot of tragic characters I was never deeply affected by the countries war ravished casualties. My childhood was set against the backdrop of two aggressive and violent alcoholic parents who loved to end a weekened with an alcohol fuelled, violent domestic. Despite this weekly occurrance, I was a relatively stable and content child who feasted upon the the love given to me by my maternal granny and aunt. It was only at the tender age of 6, that my life became engulfed in fear, shock, denial, betrayal and physical and mental anguish. My childhood folly was now replaced with being raped and abused whilst struggling not to give into the lure of suicide. I placed my blind faith or desperate hope in the idea that God had a plan for me and that my life would be enjoyable, someday! That day came when I met Philip. My life pivoted towards a new direction at that time and although my struggles are daily I can at last feel supported by my family and by God.My story unfortunately will strike a chord with too many, and in contrast shock and disgust those previously untainted by sexual abuse. I now continue along my path towards happiness and the feeling of inclusion in my own life, rather than as an onlooker or passive bystander. With God's help I will continue along life's journey. At this time I have neither the confidence nor strength to put a recent photograph of myself within the book as I still hold a great deal of shame and embarrassment. I hope readers and others in my position will allow for my weaknesses.
Jayne Cortez, Adrienne Rich, and the Feminist Superhero
One a lyric "confessional" poet and essayist, the other a jazz "spoken-word" performance artist, Adrienne Rich and Jayne Cortez were American feminist superheroes who produced extensive bodies of poetic work that reveal strangely overlapping visions, but in radically different voices and poetic styles. This book reconsiders the poetry activism of Cortez and Rich side-by-side, engaging poetics theory, cultural studies, and popular media in its literary analyses. A collection of eight integrated chapters by multiple poetry critics, as well as an artist-statement narrative by Wonder Woman sculptor Linda Stein, the book focuses upon the voice of bravado, the various calls for global justice, and Third Wave feminist "intersectional" critiques all embodied within these two women's poetic texts. The book also examines the twentieth-century figure of the American superhero, particularly Wonder Woman, bringing popular-culture studies into conversation with literary criticism, as well as visual art through the inclusion of Stein's commentary and illustrations. This beautiful and compelling book experiments with the festschrift concept by inviting multiple and competing disciplinary views on U.S. feminist poetics, women's art and aesthetics, racial and sexual identities, as well as politics and performance—all in tribute to the power of poetry by Cortez and Rich.
