Born again Christian Nora Kelly is warned to stop matching real world events to Tribulation prophecies. After Nora turns to 3-M and Haley, she's attacked, a colleague is murdered, then she's kidnapped and brainwashed by Triantologists, who coerce her to renounce Christ. After Nora is rescued from an armed bastion, psychiatrist Marilyn Swiss helps her recover, and Nora learns she's caught up in a conflict conflating an ancient Greek cult-the KOTT, with Moses, the Mormons, Doc Holliday, Frank Sinatra, Don Rickles, and Marilyn Monroe. Nora then uncloaks a plot to discredit Christianity and Judaism, using a false claim that Revelation's prophecy of 144,000 Jews coming to Christ is untrue. Pursuing leads in Chicago and Atlanta, Nora's team encounter assassins Flotilla and Duet, then deduce the deft hand of an old enemy-The Tracer. When Nora finally confronts a malevolence she deems Satanic, she must test her faith by deciding whether to turn the other cheek, or exact a violent retribution.

On November 23, 2013, China's Ministry of National Defense spokesman announced that a new air defense intercept zone (ADIZ) will be established by the government to include the Diaoyu, or Senkaku Islands. A decade ago, many scholars and policy analysts who followed China dismissed the People's Liberation Army (PLA) as an antiquated force that was essentially infantry, fighting with decades-old weapons, poor communications, and World War II era doctrine. China's nuclear forces were also technologically outmoded and fixed to silo or tunnel launch sites. Very little information was available about China's "Second Artillery Corps," as China calls its strategic rocket forces. The United States knew that the PLA maintained a separate corps of rocket troops, but its doctrine and command and control structures remained shrouded in secrecy. Chinese diplomats, political leaders, and security thinkers regularly announced that China would adhere to a "no first use" policy, but very little published military information was available about how China intended to use its missile forces in crisis or war.

Life hasn't been kind to Haley. In his early 30's, a database developer, and once a covert CIA operative, he has an alter ego who emerges when violence threatens. A half Irish, half Jewish orphan, he retreated to a workaholic existence after his wife died in an accident. Then Haley met Montana-born Episcopalian, Willi Mayers, a master at verbal jousting, able to eat enormous quantities of food without gaining weight. As they develop a Cultural Landscapes System for the National Park Service, a cryptic note appears with the message 3912. More notes appear, and Haley's formerly submissive alter ego becomes aggressive. In Montana, Haley tries to effect a rapprochement between Willi and her father, only to return home to face a personal tragedy that frees his alter ego to take vengeance on a merciless killer. His future with Willi at stake, Haley must confront a violent adversary from his past, while deciphering the true meaning and intent of the notes.

Haley-database developer, CIA operative, and multiple personality-is engaged to Willi Mayers. A violent act makes her return home, then her father is murdered. Haley's alter ego emerges, but, after Haley shows an assassin mercy, ends their arrangement. Later, the duo begin work on a Tribulation Tracking System. On the team is Patricia Candor, a born again Christian. Seeing her faith makes agnostic Willi open to Christ, a decision atheist Haley frets about. When the team is attacked, Willi can't defend herself, so Haley sends her to the CIA's Farm for training. Later, as women are abducted, Willi deduces the kidnapper is guided by Revelations' Seal, Trumpet, and Vial judgments. Also, a cryptic message is left at churches - the only way to the Father is through the sunset of Christianity. After Al Qaeda recruits MS-13 to commit terrorist acts, an enraged Willi renounces God and plans to execute all involved. Haley must now deal with two mass murderers and a woman he no longer trusts.

The VHSIC Hardware Description Language (VHDL) provides a standard machine processable notation for describing hardware. VHDL is the result of a collaborative effort between IBM, Intermetrics, and Texas Instruments; sponsored by the Very High Speed Integrated Cir­ cuits (VHSIC) program office of the Department of Defense, beginning in 1981. Today it is an IEEE standard (1076-1987), and several simulators and other automated support tools for it are available commercially. By providing a standard notation for describing hardware, especially in the early stages of the hardware design process, VHDL is expected to reduce both the time lag and the cost involved in building new systems and upgrading existing ones. VHDL is the result of an evolutionary approach to language devel­ opment starting with high level hardware description languages existing in 1981. It has a decidedly programming language flavor, resulting both from the orientation of hardware languages of that time, and from a ma­ jor requirement that VHDL use Ada constructs wherever appropriate. During the 1980's there has been an increasing current of research into high level specification languages for systems, particularly in the software area, and new methods of utilizing specifications in systems de­ velopment. This activity is worldwide and includes, for example, object­ oriented design, various rigorous development methods, mathematical verification, and synthesis from high level specifications. VAL (VHDL Annotation Language) is a simple further step in the evolution of hardware description languages in the direction of applying new methods that have developed since VHDL was designed.
