Growing Among Us: A Layman's Perspective of the Emerging Church Movement
There is a new movement growing within the Body of Christ today. Those who are the leaders of this movement call themselves "The Emerging Church" and it is growing at a tremendous pace. These leaders believe that when a dramatic change in culture takes place within a society, a new church will emerge from the old in order to meet the needs of that new culture. This book is designed to help members of traditional churches understand the different aspects of the movement and provide some guidance on how to respond to what they are presenting.

The race for possessions and the subsequent attachments have blinded the modern man in overlooking an important fact of life; "do we really need to toil that much to maintain that which needs so little?" We cannot alleviate our stresses in life until and unless we have come to formulate, for ourselves, on our own, a meaning of our existence on earth. All other remedies for stress, from Prozac to Yogic meditation, from physical exercises to mindfulness, are nothing more than short-lived, temporary solutions. The principle subject that we are concerned with in this book is the importance of formulating a personal meaning of life. Why are we here on this earth? This book does not provide any answers; though it might suggest some; but it does stress the importance of seeking the answers on our own. If there is one thought that we should constantly ponder over is, could it be that, " our individual will is nothing but a self-woven veil over the Cosmic Will".

This book was not made; it has grown. When three years ago I left the pulpit to engage in literary work and took my seat among the laity in the pews, I found that many ecclesiastical and religious subjects presented a different aspect from that which they had presented when I saw them from the pulpit. I commenced in the CHRISTIAN UNION, in a series of "Letters from a Layman," to discuss from my new point of view some questions which are generally discussed from the clerical point of view alone. The letters were kindly received by the public. To some of the characters introduced I became personally attached. And the series of letters, commenced with the expectation that they might last through six or eight weeks, extended over a period of more than a year and a half--might perhaps have extended to the present if other duties had not usurped my time and thoughts. This was the beginning. But after a time thoughts and characters which presented themselves in isolated forms, and so were photographed for the columns of the newspaper, began to gather in groups. The single threads that had been spun for the weekly issue, wove themselves together in my imagination into the pattern of a simple story, true as to every substantial fact, yet fictitious in all its dress and form. And so out of Letters of Layman grew, I myself hardly know how, this simple story of a layman's life in a country parish.
Daisies and Dandelions: A layman's critique of today's parenting

Daisies and Dandelions: A layman's critique of today's parenting

As recently as fifty years ago, America was a bold, spirited nation. The world regarded America as a bastion of freedom, democracy, wealth, and strength. Her God-fearing citizens were envied because of their remarkably high standard of living. The nation invited immigration and was always ready to help the downtrodden. One could come to America and become all they wanted to be. The US was admired as one of the wonders of the world due largely to the Constitution, with its dedication to fundamental rights of the individual and its belief in God. The diverse group of fifty-six signers of the Declaration had set the stage for a noble experiment, the likes of which the world had never seen. Today, the face of America is drastically different, with those who would decry her exceptionalism. In this politically charged book, author Warren Jorgenson explores the fundamental differences between conservatives and liberals, whom he labels daisies and dandelions, respectively, and the current state of the US. He makes the case that it all boils down to quality of parenting and the first five years of a person's life. Good parenting produces daisies, while poor parenting results in dandelions. Daisies and Dandelions is sure to incite heated discussions on both sides, but they are discussions worth having for the sake of America.

The Six Systems of Indian Philosophy: Being a layman's Understanding of the Six Darshanas
This book is a simplified account of the six systems of Indian Philosophy, also known as the six principal Darshanas. This book is primarily addressed to those who are interested in understanding Indian philosophy in a layman's language. Having said that, it does not mean that, at places, the reading will not become dry and tedious; after all, any philosophical endeavor carries with it such elements. This this book will also appeal to those people of East Indian origin who have adopted the "West" as their permanent home and living in the Western milieu of rationalistic enquiry find it difficult to 'relate' to the Indian religious culture; though, at the same time, they do carry, hidden in their chests, an insatiable curiosity to acquire familiarity with the philosophical roots of their Indian religion. This book will definitely answer some of their questions while raising still many more, which actually is the intention of the author. Knowledge should stay as an on-going process; otherwise, it is likely to become a dead-end ritual. So, grab an easy chair and a cup of coffee and let us get into the atmosphere of Indian philosophy that has prevailed for more than twenty centuries, the atmosphere that still colors the everyday religious life of all Indians, of all ages and of all colors, wherever they happen to be in this world.
