M.G. Krein’s Lectures on Entire Operators
This book is devoted to the theory of entire Hermitian operators, an important branch of functional analysis harmoniously combining the methods of operator theory and the theory of analytic functions. This theory anables various problems of classical and modern analysis to be looked at from a uniform point of view. In addition, it serves as a source for setting and solving many new problems in both theories. The three chapters of the book are based on the notes written by his students of M. G. Krein's lectures on the theory of entire operators with (1,1) deficiency index which he delivered in 1961 at the Pedagogical Institute of Odessa, and on his works on the extension theory of Hermitian operators and the theory of analytic functions. The theory is further developed in the direction of solving the problems set up by Krein at ICM-66 in the first two appendices. The first concerns the case of Hermitian operators with arbitrary defect numbers, entire with respect to an ordinary gauge and to a generalized one as well. The other focuses on the entire operators representable by differential operators. The third appendix is the translation from Russian of the unpublished notes of Krein's lecture in which, in particular, the place of the theory of entire operators in the whole analysis is elucidated. In Krein's mathematical heritage the theory of entire operators occupies a special position.

This text is devoted to the theory of entire operators, which was founded by M.G. Krein. The theory lies at the junction of the spectral theory of Hermitian operators and the theory of analytic functions, combining the methods of each. The purpose of this text is to show how problems of both classical and modern analysis can be looked at from the point of view of entire operator theory. This is one of the first systematic presentations of the basic concepts of Krein's theory and its applications, and its study of his unpublished lectures and his works gives recognition to the unique approach he developed, which was not widely known for several years. This book is suitable for postgraduate students as well as researchers interested in the spectral theory of operators, complex analysis, differential equations and extrapolation problems.

Sir Charles Bullen Hugh Mitchell G.c.m.g.: 1836 To 1899 - The Forgotten Colonial Governor
This is the first known biography of Sir Charles Bullen Hugh Mitchell G C M G, former Governor of the Straits Settlements and District Grand Master of the freemasons in the Eastern Archipelago. The book traces his early life as an officer in the Royal Marines, where he served for 15 years, ending up with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, as well as his long, distinguished career in the Colonial Service, serving Queen Victoria in many countries including Natal in Southern Africa during and after the Zulu Wars, British Honduras, British Guiana, Fiji and Singapore. It is his time in Singapore that is given extensive treatment in the book. Having been sworn in as Governor and Commander-in-Chief of The Straits Settlements and their Dependencies (the 'Colony') on 1 February 1894, Mitchell inherited a colony, which was in very serious financial difficulty. With his prudent financial management, the governor brought the Colony back to a strong financial position and completed many projects. He was also instrumental in the implementation of the Federation of Malay States and was its first High Commissioner. His governorship was cut short when he died suddenly at the Colony's Government House (the current Istana) on 7 December 1899 and was buried in Singapore. However, his legacy was written out by his successor Sir Frank Swettenham who would take credit for the Colony's achievements. To this end, this book will go towards correcting the history of Singapore and Malaya at that time. The book also contains one of the very few public accounts of freemasonry in Singapore during the 19th Century and those of prominent freemasons participating in the colonial administration and commercial sector in the Colony.

Relax while you learn a simple practice to improve your life, become more insightful, and let go of that difficult past that has been holding you back. As we change what is occurring in our thoughts, feelings, and underlying beliefs, we change the world. As it is the world has changed and suddenly, listening to Thich Nhat Hanh or Jon Kabat-Zinn, subscribing to Mindvalley, attending Gabrielle Bernstein, Eckhart Tolle, or Tony Robbins rallies, or practicing Yoga in the park may not be quite enough. The world is thinking differently, feeling differently, and behaving differently. Many have learned to ignore the feelings of fear and uncertainty by replacing them with distractions, medications, social drugs, and power-control thinking. Combining scientific research, teachings from the masters, practical examples, and down-to-earth guidance, I Am Made for M.A.G.I.C. provides the reader with a personal practice to be used anywhere, and anytime. Each practice brings powerful results. Combining the five practices provides an exponential effect.M.A.G.I.C. is an acronym for five practices - meditation, appreciation, grounding, insight, and connection.M is for meditation. Mindfulness meditation is engaged here to calm the mind, relax the body, and excite the spirit. By dissolving any resistance, we open to the flow of abundance in life.A is for appreciation. Appreciation floods your heart with the energy of joy, in acceptance with thanks. It allows us to find value in everything, even when we cannot explain it, or we do not want it.G is for grounding. Grounding connects the energetic system of your body with the energy system of Mother Earth. This connection with our planet is a connection between living, breathing, and conscious entities.I is for insight. Insight opens you to your higher guidance. It is intuition, inner knowing, and guidance all in one. It allows the voice of your inner being to be heard by you, even if it is via someone else's lips.C is for connection. Connection recognizes and appreciates the trillions of cells that make you a living, breathing, conscious being along with the wisdom of your heart. The practice of connection is your unseen relationship with all the people in your life, all of life on this planet, and, the Spirit that is all of life.M.A.G.I.C. as a practice integrates these five practices into one and it can be done in 30 seconds.Along with an explanation and demonstration for each of the five practices, there are hundreds of gems to nurture any reader's thirst for deepened spirituality. With little extra effort, in fact, with less effort than you are now expending, you can engage five practices, the same five practices the self-growth industry and the global spirituality movements are based upon. Being able to do this in 30 seconds allows you to use it many times every day and especially in times of crisis

This monograph represents the first comprehensive study of the multifaceted representations of the complex phenomenon of globalization in the diverse repertoire of the 2008 Nobel Laureate in Literature. This interdisciplinary investigation explores the initial euphoria related to the ambivalent concept of the ‘global village’ and how this evaporated dream can perhaps be reappropriated to create a better global society for both the human and Cosmic Other through the lens of Le Clézio’s fiction. Chapter one offers a conceptual framework for understanding the Franco-Mauritian author’s nuanced ideas concerning globalization. It also probes the original ambivalence of McLuhan’s celebrated notion of a global village in addition to its euphoric reception. Chapter two explores the current state of the interconnected, interdependent modern world in which many disenfranchised and marginalized individuals are living a recurring nightmare. Chapter three examines Le Clézio’s deconstruction of the simplistic ideology of consumerism that is indicative of contemporary consumer republics. This section also underscores the intricate systems of hegemonic domination, such as the media, created by the transnational corporations that dominate the global economic landscape to sustain their supremacy. Chapter four delves into Le Clézio’s ecocentric humanism that extends to all other living creatures by debunking Manichean dualities that separate human beings from elemental matter and the rest of the universe. The final chapter examines recent texts, such as Raga, Ourania, and Histoire du pied et autres fantaisies, which encourage the reader to envision what a more just and egalitarian global village might encompass. These works dismiss neoliberal fantasies and consumerist ideology that have justified the systematic exploitation of everyone and everything in the name of progress, but they also urge the modern subject to be resilient in the face of tremendous adversity. Instead of accepting the imposition of a monolithic, socioeconomic model that is riddled with inequality and injustice and which serves the interests of the Happy Few, Le Clézio suggests that the first step is to resist integration into the global village by stoically confronting reality and having the necessary courage to propose another vision which counterpoints McLuhan’s misguided one.
