"Keep your eyes open, Gnaeus, and don't fall asleep. You've just made your enemy more powerful than yourself."79 BCE. As the memory of Gaius Marius begins to slowly fade, another war has begun to rage within Rome's own streets and far to the west.Hailed as Great by his own loyal soldiers, Pompey's elders still have their doubts. With his age and Rome's elite politicians working against him, will he follow the course set for him or continue to carve a path of significance by his own means?Spanning two continents and the violent sea between them, Triumphator is the second book in Robert Allen Johnson's awe inspiring MAGNUS trilogy which began with Rising Sun.

A tortured vampire, a lonely shifter, and a deadly power struggle of supernatural proportions. Can their forbidden love prevail?Magnus Redstone is the middle of the five Redstone brothers. He's the quiet one. The one who keeps to himself more than the others. But he has good reason for his loner status. Two years ago, he met a woman. Not just any woman. This woman made his inner cougar stand up and roar. Even in human form, he purred when she stroked him. She was his mate. And that meant something very serious among shifters. Too bad the lady had fangs...Following a lead about a very bad man, Mag discovers Miranda being held captive by an evil mage in a cage of silver that burns her. She's been tortured and bled repeatedly as the monster sought to steal her power for his own. Mag frees her and takes her to his home, nursing her back to health and defying all convention to keep her with him. He doesn't ever want to let her go again, but he knows the deck is stacked against them. When a vampire uprising threatens the stability of the Las Vegas scene, Mag and Miranda are right in the middle of it, fighting against evil. More than just their necks are on the line when a group of vampires seek to kill them and overthrow the current Master vampire of the area. But they have powerful allies, and their renewed relationship has made both of them stronger than either would ever be alone. Will they prevail against all odds, and can they stay together forever? Or will the daylight - and their two very different worlds - tear them apart again?* Look for the first two books in this sub-series - Tales of the Were: Grif and Tales of the Were: Red - available now in ebook and print.

With a title that is obviously a pun on 'Agnus Dei', this eighteenth example of John O'Loughlin's cyclical philosophy expands on The Right to Sanity (2000), its immediate predecessor, to embrace a deeper analysis of the distinction between 'right' and 'wrong', or immorality and morality, and does so in relation to a number of dichotomous contexts, including sensuality and sensibility, competition and co-operation, insanity and sanity, race and culture. In fact, this text delves into the European racial dichotomy - notwithstanding the existence of Slavs and Latins - between Nordic and Celtic, and seeks to deduce certain moral distinctions between the two races, as well as to compare them with the generality of darker races on this planet from what the author contends, on the basis of metaphorical illustrations, to have traditionally been an environmentally more-favoured cultural standpoint. Not least of the subjects under investigation here is the distinction between immanence and transcendence, which few thinkers before him would seem to have treated with the subtlety and profundity it deserves. - A Centretruths editorial

Magnus Hirschfeld (1868-1935) was one of the first great pioneers of the gay liberation movement. Revered by such gay icons as Christopher Isherwood and Harry Hay, founder of the Mattachine Society, Hirschfeld's legacy resonates throughout the twentieth-century and around the world. Guided by his motto "Through Science Toward Justice," Hirschfeld helped found the Scientific Humanitarian Committee in Germany to defend the rights of homosexuals and develop a scientific framework for sexual equality. He was also an early champion of women's rights, campaigning in the early 1900s for the decriminalization of abortion and the right of female teachers and civil servants to marry and have children. By 1933 Hirschfeld's commitment to sexual liberation made him a target for the Nazis, and they ransacked his Institute for Sexual Research and publicly burned his books. This biography, first published to acclaim in Germany, follows Hirschfeld from his birth in the Prussian province of Pomerania to the heights of his career during the Weimar Republic and the rise of German fascism. Ralf Dose illuminates Hirschfeld's ground-breaking role in the gay liberation movement and explains some of his major theoretical concepts, which continue to influence our understanding of human sexuality and social justice today.
