Marshall introduces Elliott to a mismatched lot of companions-a jock, a skater, a bookworm, and a boy who dresses as if it's still the 1930s. A stunning combination of landscape photography and thematic essays exploring how the concept of wilderness has evolved over time Our ideas of wilderness have evolved dramatically over the past one hundred and fifty years, from a view of wild country as an inviolable “place apart” to one that exists only within the matrix of human activity. This shift in understanding has provoked complicated questions about the importance of the wild in American environmentalism, as well as new aesthetic expectations as we reframe the wilderness as (to some degree) a human creation. Wild Visions is distinctive in its union of landscape photography and environmental thought, a merging of short, thematic essays with a striking visual narrative. Often, the wild is viewed in binary terms: either revered as sacred and ecologically pure or dismissed as spoiled by human activities. This book portrays wilderness instead as an evolving gamut of understandings, a collage of views and ideas that is still in process.

No stone is left unturned in this reference level introduction to the gospel of Mark. Craig S. Keener provides a thorough overview of both Mark’s textual history and every issue related to the authorship and context of the gospel. This volume lays the groundwork for Keener’s monumental International Critical Commentary on Mark. Keener begins by presenting an orientation to Markan studies as a whole, situating the reader within the scholarly debate and providing an overview of secondary sources and approaches. He then critically assesses the background to the gospel, with chapters on the Mark’s authorship, genre, sources, setting and date, and audience. Together, these provide an in-depth analysis of the gospel and its world, providing readers with measured interpretation of the evidence at hand and the wealth of secondary literature on these crucial topics. Keener is at his most creative in the chapters that follow on Markan style and narrative features, and in his synthesis of Mark’s theology. This rich and detailed volume provides readers with the perfect overview of all literary, historical and theological debates necessary for in depth study of the gospel of Mark, and outlines Keener’s key approach to the gospel, which will be developed further in his four commentary volumes on the gospel of Mark.

Setting a goal to read and study the whole Bible, let alone the New Testament by its self, may seem daunting and an impossible challenge. Starting with the Gospels is one of the best ways to begin a study of the Bible and starting with the words of Jesus makes the challenge an even more exciting. After all, because of the fact that He is the Son of God, wouldn't studying his words, be the best way to start? For centuries, the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been preached throughout the world. His teachings have been taught in nearly every language, dialect and nation, astonishing the wise and humbling the proud. Christ's teachings focused on love: "Love one another as I have loved you" and "Do unto others as you would have them do to you". When Jesus was asked which of the Ten Commandments the greatest commandment is, He replies, "You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with your entire mind; this is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it, you will love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets". While reading His words, let us focus on what He says. Do we truly live as He taught? Do we follow in His footsteps? The word "Christian" means "Follower of Christ". Let's learn what He taught us and then follow what He said. The world is watching us; it was once said by Mahatma Gandhi that if India would ever truly become a Christian nation, it would be because of the Christ of the Christians and not because of the Christians of the Christ. Christians today have not left the greatest impression on the world. Let's be true followers of Christ and live by His words. Only then will the world know what a Christian truly is. As the song says, "They will know we are Christians by our love." Read carefully His words and then study the context in which He was speaking. Review the questions carefully and answer them as honestly as you can. Enjoy your study of Christ's words.

MARK and the MAN: The Gospel of Mark: a New Age Commentary for the new Christianity

This book on the Gospel of Mark follows the form of a traditional commentary on scripture but illuminates the Gospel with information gained through channeled contact with extraterrestrials. This includes information about Jesus and the Gospels not known before, as well as what is known about the universe. The last 25% of the original Gospel by Mark was lost by accident before it could be copied, and now channeled information reveals the nature of the resurrection of Jesus and details his after death appearances that were recorded in the lost material. MARK and the MAN gives the much-needed "big picture" of the universe, one that includes the metaphysical realm, the seven levels of consciousness, called densities, and the two pathways of evolution up through those levels. Jesus was a spiritual individual of the highest love density who chose to return to earth to carry out a mission to combat negativity that included martyrdom. In MARK and the MAN, the author reveals for the first time Jesus' own religion of the Father and the universal brotherhood of the children of God, who are all people, and how it was quickly distorted by the early church. The book explains how many of Jesus' miracles occurred. The Gospels were written by humans with points of view, and this book points out their agendas with well-founded explanations. Most of all, this ground-breaking book reveals the scientific truth about the resurrection and gives details of Jesus' appearances in his resurrected form not in the original gospels. MARK and the MAN reveals who wrote the mysterious Q document, and ends the book with a chapter assessing the validity of memories in an oral society with some surprising results. This book will appeal to those who are looking for a new outlook on the religion and life of Jesus, especially participants in Emergence Christianity. Lastly, each chapter ends with study questions that will help familiarize readers with the concepts in this book, that as one of a kind, blends Christianity with science and channeled information for the modern information age. Written for Christians and others alike, this unique book will appeal to those who seek to know what is real in life and religion.

How Baptism and the Eucharist Shaped Early Christian Understandings of JesusLong before the Gospel writers put pen to papyrus, the earliest Christians participated in the powerful rituals of baptism and the Lord's Supper, which fundamentally shaped their understanding of God, Christ, and the world in which they lived. In this volume, a respected biblical scholar and teacher explores how cultural anthropology and ritual studies elucidate ancient texts. Charles Bobertz offers a liturgical reading of the Gospel of Mark, arguing that the Gospel is a narrative interpretation of early Christian ritual. This fresh, responsible, and creative proposal will benefit scholars, professors, and students. Its ecclesial and pastoral ramifications will also be of interest to church leaders and pastors.
Wtb_mark: A Living and Active Stage Adaptation of Mark's Gospel
WTB_Mark is a ground-breaking stage adaptation of Mark's Gospel in two Acts, based on Steve Cook's audio recording, "Witness The Bible: Mark". It contains a cinematic underscore of music and sound effects, over which the action is meticulously timed out. The result is a powerful activation of Scripture. It is prop-less with a very simple set and costumes and runs about 90 minutes with one intermission. It is designed to replicate what Bible study must have been like in the 1st Century Church, when most believers were illiterate.
