The Book of Revelation

The Book of Revelation

Martin M Culy

Pickwick Publications

Revelation, by any modern standard, is a strange book. It has intrigued and perplexed readers through the centuries, and all too often has fallen victim to fanciful interpretations. Although it may seem mysterious and impenetrable to us today, it represents a distinct message in language and imagery that was familiar to the original readers, woven together into a beautiful tapestry of twenty-two interconnected chapters. The Book of Revelation: The Rest of the Story demonstrates that the key to understanding the message of Revelation is found in this intricate relationship between the seven ""letters"" and the rest of the book, with the visions of Revelation 4-22 building on, fleshing out, and driving home each of the messages to the seven churches in Revelation 2-3. In the end, Revelation proves to be not primarily a guide to how things are going to unfold at the end of the age, but rather a profound call to a life of radical devotion to Jesus regardless of one's circumstances. ""Written in a clear, lively, and engaging style, this book makes a unique contribution to the study of Revelation by tracing how the letters to the seven churches are thematically connected to the rest of the book. Culy combines reliable scholarship with a passion to help today's Christian understand and respond faithfully to John's message, a call for radical devotion to Christ in the face of looming distress and pervasive compromise."" --Buist M. Fanning, Senior Professor Emeritus of New Testament Studies, Dallas Theological Seminary ""Revelation has been well-served recently with a number of commentaries and treatments at both an academic and popular level. But this work by Martin Culy is unique among all of them. Marty takes seriously the background to the messages to the seven churches in chapters 2-3 as the hermeneutical lens for reading the book of Revelation. He considers how Revelation would have been understood given the unique situation and problems faced by each of the seven churches. Culy leads the reader through the book of Revelation seven times from the perspective of each of the seven churches. It is one of those 'why didn't I think of that' books Pitched at an appropriate level, this book will shed much valuable light on the book of Revelation and should be consulted regularly along with other aids in coming to grips with the message of the apocalypse. Marty is a wise, judicious, and insightful guide through this difficult New Testament book."" --David Mathewson, Associate Professor of New Testament, Denver Seminary Martin Culy is Director of Cypress Hills Ministries and former Professor of New Testament and Greek at Briercrest Seminary. He is founding editor of the Baylor Handbook on the Greek New Testament, and the author or co-author of seven books, including Echoes of Friendship in the Gospel of John and the volumes on Luke, Acts, and 1, 2, 3, John in the BHGNT series.

Do you really think that if a civilization spent billions of dollars and a huge amount of resources to build a starship, that it would be a warship. I don't think so. Aggression between civilizations happens over limited resources. If a species is able to travel the stars, they have access to basically unlimited resources. For every one star system that has sentient life, there are thousands upon thousands of systems that have no sentient life but an abundant amount of resources. Why should a species go to war for an other's resources if resources were readily available without conflict in those thousand upon thousands of other systems. That is the premise of my stories. I do include a few aggressive aliens to make life interesting and there are always pirates Earth Station is the first in a series of books. After its initial printing, suggestions were made and I being a new author took them to heart. The revised edition is 25 pages longer and hopefully addresses some of the criticisms received. A summary of the tale follows: Jake is a self made trillionaire that doesn't like the way things are going on earth. He is determined to allow mankind to reach its full potential. To that end, he creates a new country, devoted to the betterment of mankind without all the hindrances of the bureaucracy of earth's governments. Jake, quickly surrounds himself with some of the best minds the earth has to offer and creates a country that is years ahead of any of the others on earth. And that is just the beginning.
Greenhouse Gas Carbon Dioxide Mitigation

Greenhouse Gas Carbon Dioxide Mitigation

Any mention of the "greenhouse effect" tends to ignite controversy. While the rising atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases-especially carbon dioxide- are certainly among the most pressing issues today, theoretical and perceived consequences have been subject to conjecture and misinformation. That raging debate has obscured an important fact: scientists and engineers are hard at work on methods to reduce CO2 emissions, and devise practical methods for their remediation. Greenhouse Gas Carbon Dioxide Mitigation: Science and Technology sheds light on the most recent advancements, documented by two of the world's leading researchers on CO2. Aware of the complexity and still-unknown factors behind climatic change, the authors consider the need to make CO2 mitigation viable for both environmental and economic gain. To that end, Professor Halmann offers new insights into interesting chemical pathways for the conversion of CO2 to useful products. Steinberg adds real-life engineering solutions, applicable to heavy CO2-producing industrial processes, and improving efficiency of energy conversion. Exciting theories and pilot projects are also testing the potential for CO2 utilization, conversion, reduction, and disposal. Greenhouse Gas Carbon Dioxide Mitigation: Science and Technology reports on the use of biomass, such as ocean fertilization and "energy farms," to put CO2 to practical and safe use. Professional and academic readers involved with CO2 research will find Greenhouse Gas Carbon Dioxide Mitigation: Science and Technology an invaluable roadmap for information and inspiration-a way to move beyond argument, and into action.

Without design, the "brand identity" is just a name, sometimes paired with a statement that enumerates the values of the company. It is two-dimensional when written down or printed. The task for the retail designer is to turn that name or statement into a three-dimensional environment in which consumers may interact with the brand’s product or services. Designing the Brand Identity in Retail Spaces is a casebook that shows and tells how architects and store designers have tackled that challenge. With nearly 300 examples from 48 renowned brands from around the world, this book examines every stage of a brand's "lifetime," from inception to show room. Cases run the retail gamut, including restaurants, department stores, and luxury brands. Each case is paired with analysis and interviews with brand managers and designers, guiding the reader through the entire design process. Easy to read and replete with stunning illustrations, this is the perfect primer for students and young professionals creating brand identities in their retail design.

This manual was produced originally by AsiAfrica Ministries, Inc., to serve as a teaching and worship resource for the establishment of cell groups, or house churches, in rural areas of the Global South where there are no churches. The manual is designed as a "stand alone" resource for people who lack access to Christian teaching. Hence, it contains many citations of scripture for the benefit of readers who have no Bibles. The published version of this manual is essentially the same as the manual we are distributing free of charge in the Global South. While the manual was originally intended for readers whose first language is not English, we have been happy to learn that many American readers find the simple, non-technical language helpful for their understanding of the good news of Jesus Christ.AsiAfrica Ministries, Inc. is happy to publish and distribute this teaching manual in the service of Jesus Christ. We pray that this manual will bless you, as you learn about "The King and the Kingdom."

The book includes extensive analysis of the measurement of interest rates, with case studies from The Netherlands, Belgium and EMU, and emphasizes statistical measurement and the attempt to understand interest rate behaviour through statistical estimation. The book also includes an examination of historical interest rate development in the long run, both theoretically and empirically. On Money and Credit in Europe

In this invaluable book, Martin Fase, a notable academic and practitioner, draws together his most important contributions to monetary economics over two decades, using empirical evidence to assert his unique style in designing monetary policy. One of the main themes of Professor Fase's work, covered in the first part of the book, is the empirical analysis of the demand for money. For traditional monetary aggregates and Divisia aggregates the author investigates the dynamics, stability and determinants of money demand on a sectoral, national and Europe-wide level. The second part of the book uses empirical evidence to address a variety of monetary issues, including the system approach to money demand, the demand for bank loans, payment patterns and the demand for banknotes and coins. These chapters support the author's assertion that both the aggregate and disaggregate analyses of money demand are necessary for the design of a successful monetary policy in a European Monetary Union. On Money and Credit in Europe will be of great value to scholars and practitioners of monetary and financial economics, the economics of European integration and money and banking.
