Memories that need to be recovered are sometimes best left buried. When Emberlee finds herself reliving her memories she finds an awful truth that will lead to bitter disappointment. Especially when she relives her memories of Cole and how he broke her heart and left her to raise their son, alone.Everything she thought she knew is wrong and everyone she loves has been lying to her. Sometimes having a great destiny is just too much to handle and giving up is all that is left to do. Evil forces are after her soul and one wrong choice can destroy the world."What happens if my body and spirit don't get reunited? What happens then?" I say, fearing that I already know the answer. "You and your soul perish forever, never to be reformed and Apollyon will be able to unlock the gate your guardian was supposed to be guarding. Cole will fall into corruption and Alli and Jason will perish in the fight to save the world." She gives me a pointed look as she continues, "All the power that keeps the gate locked resides within your guardian spirit or soul rather. Without that guardian the star is broken unleashing the depths of evil this world has never known." "I was afraid you were going to say something like that. No pressure just save the world, or everyone dies." Sighing I look at the other three and can see the same looks of grim resolve upon their faces. "So why will Cole fall into corruption?"
Letters from Brackham Wood: A Moira Edwards Mystery
In 1937 England, twenty years after losing contact with her only living relatives, Moira Edwards sends a Letter from Brackham Wood, where she has been serving as a maid of all work, to the last known American address of her uncle and aunt and their daughter--thus putting in motion a series of letters spanning all of World War II. In these letters, Moira and her cousin, Margaret Walker, a doctor living in Spokane, Washington, reflect on their lives, the world's condition, changing times for women, and a case of espionage in which she, Moira, finds herself at the center.

The year is 1947. Moira Edwards Walker and her husband Thomas have settled into a normal life after adopting two orphaned Japanese girls who had been living in her cousin Margaret's home. But life does not remain ordinary. Abruptly, and without much explanation, Moira and Thomas leave their daughters in the care of Margaret and return to London where Moira, at Thomas' behest, becomes a "Watcher." She moves about Cambridge University and Highgate Cemetery where she photographs individuals who congregate near Karl Marx's statue. Amazingly, Moira does this without drawing attention to herself. Just as suddenly as the London work began, it ends. Moira and Thomas, now reunited with their girls, return to the United States and settle in Richland, Washington, near the Hanford Atomic Works. The two cousins maintain their connection through letter-writing, and for two years share thoughts on Moira's activities, the world's changing condition and Hanford, which has become a medical worry to Margaret. For Moira, Hanford becomes a world of intrigue that eventually puts her in the middle of international espionage. Many years later, Moira's daughter, Maemi, uses the letters written between her mother and her aunt to discover the secrets of that life.Letters from a Wary Watcher is a sequel to Letters from Brackham Wood, a book containing letters between the cousins that describe the years prior to and during WWII in both England and Spokane, Washington.

Antígonas: Writing from Latin America is the first book in the English language to approach classical reception through the study of one classical fragment as it circulates throughout Latin America. This interdisciplinary research engages comparative literature, Latin American studies, classical reception, history, feminist theory, political philosophy, and theatre history. Moira Fradinger tracks the ways in which, since the early nineteenth century, fragments of Antigone's myth and tragedy have been persistently cannibalized and ruminated throughout South and Central America and the Caribbean, quilted to local dramatic forms, revealing an archive of political thought about Latin America's heterogeneous neo-colonial histories. Antígona is consistently characterized as a national mother and, as the twentieth century advances, multiplied on stage, forming female collectives, foregrounding the urgency of systemic change or staging gender politics. Through meticulous examination of classical culture in necolonial contexts, Fradinger explores ways of reading Creole texts from the geopolitical South that disrupt the colonial reading protocols that deracinate texts or lock them into locality. By historicizing Antígona plays and interpreting them with a purpose to address specific colonial legacies, the book reveals how Antígona has ceased being Greek and instead tells stories of twentieth- and twenty-first-century Latin America. Antígonas rethinks the paradigms through which we understand the presence of ancient cultural materials in former colonial territories, while illuminating an understudied continent in Anglophone reception studies.

It's 1948, and Mabel is happily juggling the demands of being a wife, a mother and the owner of the town's most popular bakery. Life is full and good. There is a wedding in the offing and plans for a special homecoming, but things quickly begin to unravel. A violent attack, a tragic accident and a shocking secret that forces Mabel to confront a troubling moral dilemma, combine to create a page-turning narrative that is, at times, playful and fun; at others, shocking and sad. As she did in her debut novel, The Bread Maker, and in its sequel, Or so it Seemed, MacLeod's latest work grips readers with its surprising twists, colourful characters, powerful imagery and rich dialogue. Readers will feel as if they stepped into a bygone era, eavesdropping on the lives of ordinary people caught up in extraordinary circumstances. A beautiful story about love, loss, deception and depravity, Plenty to Hide will keep you guessing what's next for Mabel and the unforgettable cast of characters who come to life on the pages of this rich and moving tale.
