Erklarte Ziele der Medizin sind Wiederherstellung, Erhaltung sowie Foerderung der psychischen und physischen Gesundheit. Dabei wird in der alltaglichen Praxis oft die Grenzziehung zwischen dem "Normalen" und dem "Pathologischen" unreflektiert vorgenommen. Der Band ist der interdisziplinaren Aufarbeitung von medizinischen Normierungsdiskursen und -praktiken vom 19. bis 21. Jahrhundert gewidmet. In dem Text geht es um die heimliche Liebe zwischen Magelone, Tochter des K nigs von Neapel, und Peter, dem Sohn eines Grafen aus der Provence, die sich gemeinsam gegen die gesellschaftlichen Normen und Konventionen des Hofes stellen. Zentrale Themen sind hier die Liebe der beiden, der Wunsch nach individuellem Liebesgl ck, auch und gerade gegen gesellschaftliche Schranken mit anschlie ender Bew hrung in der Zeit der gemeinsamen Trennung. Dabei folgt der Text dem Charakter des "Eustachius"-Typus, in dem es um Umkehr, Bu e, Pr fung, erneutes Gl ck, Trennung und Bew hrung der Ehepartner geht. In der Forschung sieht man in dem Text auf der einen Seite die Aufspaltung zwischen ffentlichkeit und Heimlichkeit, h fischer Norm und privatem Liebesverlangen, Pflicht und Neigung (Werner R cke, Volker Mertens, Armin Schulz) und auf der anderen Seite will man nach Winfried Thei in ihm zeitgen ssische Herrschafts- und F rstendidaxenmit einem humanistisch moralisch-didaktischem Ansatz erkennen. Thei ist der Meinung, dass man den Roman als ein sittliches Lehrst ck betrachten soll, der einem fr hneuzeitlichem F rstenspiegel gleichkommt. Damit schlie t er sich der Absicht von Georg Spalatin an, der in seiner Vorrede die Eltern darauf hinweist, besser auf ihre Kinder acht zu geben. Completely continuous operators on a Hilbert space or even on a Banach space have received considerable attention in the last fifty years. Their study was usually confined to special completely continuous operators or to the discovery of properties common to all of them (for instance, that every such operator admits a proper invariant subspace). On the other hand, interest in spaces of completely continuous operators is comparatively new. Some results of this type may be found implicit in the early work of E. SCHMIDT. Other results are "generally known" and cannot be found explicitly in print. One of the interesting and relatively new results states that modulo the language of BANACH (that is, up to equivalence) the space of all operators on a Hilbert space f> is the second conjugate of the space of all completely continuous operators on f>. The study of spaces of completely continuous operators on a perfectly general Banach space involves many difficulties. Some stem, for instance, from the unsolved problem whether a completely continuous operator on a perfectly general Banach space is always approximable in bound by operators of finite rank. The answer is affirmative in all the special Banach spaces considered. An affirmative answer to the above problem is the ultimate desideratum - it ~ould simplify the theory considerably. A negative answer, however, would be equally interesting (although for us not so useful), since it would settle negatively the open "basis problem".

Human beings are continually being exposed to ionizing radiation from natural sources. There are two main contributors to natural radiation exposures: high-energy cosmic ray particles incident on the earth's atmosphere and radioactive nuclides that originated from the earth crust and are present everywhere in the environment, including the human body (UNSCEAR, 2000). Humans are exposed to radionuclides through ingestion and inhalation (internal exposure) and/or irradiation from external gamma rays emitted from the radionuclide (external exposure). The International Basic Safety Standards (BSS) for protection against ionizing radiation and the safety of radiation sources (IAEA, 1996) specify the basic requirements for the protection of health and the environment from ionizing radiation. These are based on the latest recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP, 2007) on the regulation of Practices and Interventions. The BSS is applied to both natural and artificial sources of radiation in the environment and the consequences on living and non-living species.

Tunnelbygget genom Hallandsåsen har utvecklats på ett sådant sätt och fått sådana konsekvenser, att frågan hur projektet skall förstås och förklaras är viktig. Vill man studera vilka mekanismer i samhället som kan förhindra projektets förlopp eller dess konsekvenser, bör man först förstå projektet. Matthias Baiers bok handlar om hur man med normer kan förstå och beskriva tunnelbygget genom Hallandsåsen. Författaren har utifrån ett rättssociologiskt perspektiv undersökt vilka normer som driver utvecklingen i projektet. Därmed ges också en förståelse av i vilket sammanhang rätten har fungerat. Boken beskriver projektets förlopp fram till stoppet i oktober 1997 och undersöker sedan projektetsrättsliga och normativa dimensioner. Viktiga komponenter i den normativa dimensionen är en konsensus om grundläggande samhällsvärden, en tro på den tekniska förmågan samt villkoren för de politiska och ekonomiska systemen. Också rätten ingår i den normativa dimensionen, och i den starka normativitet som präglat projektet har medborgarperspektivet och det ekologiska perspektivet haft svårt att göra sig gällande.
