A series of nine full petrological descriptions were made from the main host rocks at San Jos de Las Malezas quartz -gold deposit in Santa Clara, Villa Clara, Cuba. These main petrological groups include leucocratic gabbros, "fresh" (less altered) massive serpentinites, quartz veins and altered (iron and carbonatic alterations) serpentinites. The mafic rocks contain chiefly plagioclase and clinopyroxene as the principal components, with less frequently olivine and a relative large variety of secondary and accessory minerals. Felsic rocks are composed mainly by quartz with different accessory minerals. The inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-EOS) of the global composition of these two main petrological groups allowed the determination of their characteristic correlation coefficients. This study suggests that gold was contributed not by the hydrothermal process itself, but by the remobilization of this element from the host rocks. The presence of zeolites within the quartz bodies is interpreted as an indicator of their low-temperature character. It is proposed that quartz veins were formed as a result of the listwaenitization of the serpentinites, combined with the hydrothermal-metasomatic fluids that altered the host rocks after their obduction onto the surface.

Most of the work reflected in this report is based on a geochemical and geological survey conducted by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Korean Institute of Geology, Mining, and Materials (KIGAM) in 1998. The ore deposits in the east and east central Guatemala are generally divided into three types of deposits: 1.Vein type of gold-silver and lead-zinc deposits widely distributed in volcanic and granite intrusives especially in the southern part of Motagua fault zone; 2.Nickel-chromium deposits associated with ultramafic serpentinite and peridotite rocks in the middle part of Guatemala; and 3.Antimony and polymetallic ore deposits related with Tertiary rock which is exposed in the regions of mid-Tertiary volcanic activity. The present report compiles the existing information on the Izabal District and the La Uni n Area, south of the Izabal Lake. It shows the gold potential of several targets in the region.

En la vida cotidiana tomamos decisiones y actuamos en funci n de razonamientos que parecen no tener una base s lida, nos manejamos por ideas que no siempre resultan ser ciertas, o que pueden ser verdades parciales. Esta obra trata de esclarecer los mecanismos internos, que producen un pensamiento poco l gico, m s bien autocomplaciente, con tendencia a justificar los errores y que minimiza el papel de los hechos frente a las emociones y deseos. En esta obra, tambi n, estableceremos algunos "Tipos de pensamiento" y su relaci n con las "Causales de distorsi n de la realidad". Esto es, partimos de esclarecer que pensamos en base a ciertos tipos de pensamiento y que estos son influidos y, en ciertos casos, manipulados por "causales de distorsi n de la realidad" que nos conducen, por lo regular, a desviar el curso de nuestras ideas fuera de los hechos y la l gica. Ambos conceptos (tipos de pensamiento y causales de distorsi n de la realidad) se encuentran interrelacionados y se retroalimentan mutuamente, produciendo el pensamiento humano. Partimos de ciertos tipos de pensamiento y luego estos son influenciados por ciertas causales de distorsi n de la realidad que, en un sincretismo dial ctico, elaboran la gama de pensamientos que nos permiten manejarnos y sobrevivir en el mundo tan complejo en el que nos ha tocado vivir.

However, working with multivariable data sets is tricky. One of the most commonly use methods in statistics, correlation analysis is not effective when dealing with "close data" (all geochemical data is close... more on that inside the book). So you need to use compositional data analysis to really extract useful information of your data.
