Gravity always wins in battle and architecture. When the Boxer, a rare ancient bronze, was excavated on the south side of the Quirinal Hill in Rome in 1885, it seemed “as if he was awakening again after a long pause in the fighting.” Seated and heavy, he still awaits his next round. In contrast, the Palazzetto dello Sport, built out of prefabricated parts by Pier Luigi Nervi for the 1960 Olympic Games, seems to defy gravity. These two icons of Rome were brought together in the imagination through architecture, poetry, and music tracks: surrounded by a palazzettino woven together out of carbon bars, the Boxer from the Quirinal gets a new home in an architectural sound-poetry installation. This book documents the collaboration of the Rome Prize winners Sabine Scho, Sebastian Felix Ernst, and Golden Diskó Ship, and is being produced by the Deutsche Akademie Rom Villa Massimo.

This catalog documents the exhibition of works by German painter Sabine Moritz (born 1969) at the Kabinett f r aktuelle Kunst in Bremen, including installation photographs of Berlin, color lithographs from Sea Kings (2014-17), Ghost Town (2016) and her 2017 series Neuland.
This is the story of Sabine Fr hlich and the harrowing experiences of her family during the Nazi regime - experiences she did not disclose to her children for decades. Sabine was raised as Catholic with her brother Andreas. As a result, she did not understand that the rapidly emerging antisemitic propaganda would be applied to her family, including her father, a decorated German WWI veteran. She first becomes aware of her Jewish heritage when her brother is not allowed to join the popular Hitler Youth. After Kristallnacht, her family flees Germany hoping for US visas, only to become trapped in the Netherlands when the Germans invade.In June 1941, the Nazis seize her brother as hostage for an act of sabotage, deporting him to Mauthausen where he perishes within months. Blue Sabine is a story of five generations of women in the same family, told in their voices, along with those of some men of Holt blood. It is set along the Sabine River, which divides the state of Texas from Louisiana and the Deep South. From 1867 (when the Holts first came to Texas) to the present, the novel chronicles the emotional lives of grandmothers, mothers, daughters, and nieces, all bound by kinship and history. Each comes to terms with being a woman in the West, in Texas, and in her own way and her own time.
