Todd, the Cedar Cove Chronicles Book One
In 1943, Todd Jansan lives on a tobacco farm with his family in the small community of Cedar Cove, North Carolina. His Uncle Clyde is away at war after having mysteriously disappeared. The family also has to deal with living next door to a cruel man who punishes his children by holding them over a well and threatening to drop them to their death.
The Todd Glass Situation: A Bunch of Lies about My Personal Life and a Bunch of True Stories about My 30-Year Career in Stand-Up Comedy
A "triumphant" (The New York Times) memoir from beloved comedian Todd Glass about his decision at age forty-eight to finally live openly as a gay man, and the support from his illustrious collection of comedy pals.As Todd Glass tells it, growing up in a Philadelphia suburb in the 1970s was an easy life. Well, easy as long as you didn't have dyslexia or ADD, or were a Jew. And once you added gay into the mix, life became more difficult. So Todd decided to hide the gay part, no matter how comic, tragic, or comically tragic the results. It might have been a lot easier had he chosen a profession other than stand-up comedy. By age eighteen, Todd was opening for big musical acts like George Jones and Patti LaBelle. His career carried him through the Los Angeles comedy heyday in the 1980s, its decline in the 1990s, and its rebirth via the alternative comedy scene and the explosion in podcasting. But the harder he worked at his craft, the more difficult it became to manage his "situation." There were the years of abstinence and half-hearted attempts to "cure" himself. The fake girlfriends so that he could tell relationship jokes onstage. The staged sexual encounters to burnish his reputation offstage. It took a brush with death to cause him to rethink the way he was living his life; a rash of suicides among gay teens to convinced him that it was finally time to come out to the world. Welcome to The Todd Glass Situation, your front-row seat to more than thirty years of comedy history and a deeply personal story about one man's search for acceptance. This is "a humorous, lively, and humane memoir" (Kirkus Reviews).

A pioneer of the New Queer Cinema, Todd Haynes (b. 1961) is a leading American independent filmmaker. Whether working with talking dolls in a homemade short (Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story) or with Oscar-winning performers in an HBO miniseries (Mildred Pierce), Haynes has garnered numerous awards and nominations and an expanding fan base for his provocative and engaging work. In all his films, Haynes works to portray the struggles of characters in conflict with the norms of society. Many of his movies focus on female characters, drawing inspiration from genres such as the woman's film and the disease movie (Far from Heaven and Safe); others explore male characters who transgress sexual and other social conventions (Poison and Velvet Goldmine). The writer-director has drawn on figures such as Karen Carpenter, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Bob Dylan in his meditations on American and British music, celebrity, and the meaning of identity. His 2007 movie I'm Not There won a number of awards and was notable for Haynes's decision to cast six different actors (one of whom was a woman) to portray Dylan.Gathering interviews from 1989 through 2012, this collection presents a range of themes, films, and moments in the burgeoning career of Todd Haynes.

The newest addition to our Influential Video Game Designers series explores the work of Todd Howard, executive producer at Bethesda Studios, known for how he consistently pushes the boundaries of open-world gaming and player agency. Howard’s games create worlds in which players can design their own characters and tell their own stories. While many games tell the story of the game’s main character, Todd Howard’s worldbuilding approach to game design focuses more on telling the story of the game’s world, whether it be the high fantasy environments of the Elder Scrolls series or the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the Fallout series. This focus on sculpting the world allows for remarkable amounts of player freedom and choice in an expansive game environment by creating a landscape rich with open opportunity. Drawing on both academic discussions of narrative, world design, and game design, as well as on officially released interviews, speeches, and presentations given by Howard and other designers at Bethesda Games, Wendi Sierra highlights three core areas set Howard’s design perspective apart from other designers: micronarratives, iterative design, and the sharing of design tools. Taken as a whole, these three elements demonstrate how Howard has used a worldbuilding perspective to shape his games. In doing so, he has impacted not only Bethesda Studios, but also the landscape of game design itself.

Todd Holton died May 31, 2015, of cardiac arrest-but no coroner was there to pronounce him dead. Instead, his son Philip was there, and he knew a thing or two about CPR. They took Todd to a hospital and placed him in an ice bath to preserve organs and brain function in case restoration was possible.Meg Holton documented what happened to Todd's body while physically in the "deep freezer" and mentally in a coma. She also recorded prayer requests and their answers as the global church bathed these life-preserving efforts in prayer. In that coma, things happened that only Todd can vouch for-encounters with fascinating people long dead, and intriguing visions of heaven. He met and conversed with his grandpa, enjoyed the piano artistry of a deceased musician, and saw colors that can't be painted-white on white on white.Todd was 54 when this story begins. He had a two-year agricultural degree, a farm, a job at Spring Arbor Lumber, and a family and church that refused to let him die. His wife, Faith, nurtured him through his recovery. This glimpse into Todd's folksy Americana lifestyle in rural Michigan will delight even those who doubt the authenticity of his testimony or the fellowship of his church community. Look behind the veil of death to experience how the hand of God worked through Todd's praying global village.
