Ancient Ballads and Legends of Hindustan (1882) is a collection of poems by Toru Dutt. Compiled after her death and published in London, Ancient Ballads and Legends of Hindustan is an invaluable work of art from a pioneering figure in Indian history and Bengali literature. Born in Calcutta to a family of Bengali Christians, Toru Dutt was raised at the crossroads of English and Indian cultures. In addition to her native Bengali, she became fluent in English, French, and Sanskrit as a young girl, eventually writing novels and poems in each language. Despite her limited body of work, Dutt’s legacy as a groundbreaking writer remains firm in India and around the world. “Savitri was the only child / Of Madra's wise and mighty king; / Stern warriors, when they saw her, smiled, / As mountains smile to see the spring.” In rhyming English verse, Bengali poet Toru Dutt presents some of the oldest and most sacred stories from ancient India. Translated from Sanskrit into the popular ballad form, Dutt introduces an English audience to the story of Savitri, originally from the epic Mahabharata, as well as the tale of Lakshman, which comes from the Hindu epic Ramayana. Alongside these poems appear Dutt’s versions of Bengali folklore—“Joghadhya Uma”—and poems written during her stay in Europe. “Near Hastings” is a particularly beautiful example of her original verse depicting an otherworldly encounter along the English seacoast: “Near Hastings, on the shingle-beach, / We loitered at the time / When ripens on the wall the peach, / The autumn's lovely prime.” With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Toru Dutt’s Ancient Ballads and Legends of Hindustan is a classic work of Bengali literature reimagined for modern readers.

Published the year after her death at the age of 21, Bianca, or, The Young Spanish Maiden is a heartfelt work of romance by a pioneering figure in Indian history and Bengali literature. “A funeral procession was winding slowly up the path; two mourners followed the coffin; the church yard was in a lonely place; so there were no half-curious, half-sympathising people following. This book presents the following: the facts and myths concerning Minoa; the catastrophic earthquakes, tsunami, and volcanic eruption in the Aegean Sea; Greece before and after its Dark Ages; and their historical connection with Japan's ancient society. Some historical developments of civilization are deeply rooted in the awful apocalyptic events of nature which were metamorphosed or personified later by mythologies. That being the case, there is an undeniable mythological similarity between Greece and Japan.
DFA (Detrended Fluctuation Analysis): An Empirical Study on Heartbeat
This book described empirical results of biological use of an analytical technique, DFA (Detrended Fluctuation Analysis). But this book did not describe what DFA is. Instead, using DFA, fluctuation of heartbeats was investigated in this book. Because human hearts are inappropriate specimens for conducting physiological experiments, crustacean hearts were chosen at first as a model to conduct various experiments such as isolated-heart experiments. Later, this book described human heart as well. First, we tried to describe how human hearts resemble with invertebrate hearts. (Those who do not need biology can skip biology sections.) Then, various results obtained from analysis both on model animals and humans were presented. By presenting the empirical results, the authors suggested how DFA is practically useful in the field of bio-medical technology.

Many of us leave home and make the outward journey from nothingness to unity to duality. Duality is fascinating and all-consuming and it is so easy to become lost in it. Sooner or later, we get to a point where we say, "Enough is enough " We are ready to make the inward journey and start heading back home. So... if you are one of those weary travelers on your way home, you might as well take a peak at this one. If you find any gems, take whatever tickles your soul, and when you have outgrown them, throw them out. In the end, you are always held in boundless love regardless of whether you read this thing, ignore it, take anything meaningful from it, tear it apart, sleep with it, or throw it out... All I ask of you is to enjoy floating in that boundless love... Right here... Right now...
