I lunged towards the door, desperate to escape, but Rayya closed the door in my face. I sprang to the door and pushed my bleeding fists on it, shouting, "Jessie, open the door Let me out Let me out of here "Emma Coles is busy minding her own business, which includes looking out for her cousin plagued by depression, trying to live with the fact that she has a crush on the new kid, and scraping together some sort of science project at school. Then she finally gets up the courage to talk to the new kid, Shane, and things start going downhill from there. Shane agrees to work with Emma on the science project, but it turns out Shane has some hidden ulterior motives, and not a single one of them is good. After being attacked in the school parking lot, both Emma and her friend Jessie are sent one hundred years into the future. Here, teenage soldiers terrorize the common people and fight for power among themselves. Head General Rayya, the most notorious of them all, is in command of every soldier on the entire Pacific coast, and she has received orders to do everything she can to keep Emma and Jessie from going home to their own time period. That is, they cannot go home, until Shane's own plot back at home is accomplished. But by then, it may be too late.
