Le 14 novembre 2015, Christophe Chardonnens annonce son intention de ne pas se representer pour un quatrieme mandat a la prefecture du district de la Broye fribourgeoise. Le bal des pretendants est dorenavant ouvert. Le 11 fevrier 2016, Nicolas Kilchoer, president du PDC broyard, est le premier candidat a manifester publiquement son interet. Mais au debut mars, le comite du PDC envoie une lettre a ses membres annoncant la candidature de Micheline Guerry-Berchier. Chaque faction du PDC fourbit ses armes. La primaire tant attendue se deroule le mardi 15 mars 2016. Nicolas Kilchoer est battu sur le fil a la suite d'un vote par procuration qui fait beaucoup parler de lui dans le district. Dorenavant, la course a la prefecture se deroule entre l'ancien president democrate-chretien, qui a claque la porte du parti, et la juriste de Saint-Aubin.
