The Demonization of Mental Illness

The Demonization of Mental Illness is the result of the journey of a suicide survivor and a survivor of suicide. After the loss of a family member to suicide, her spiral into clinical depression was both alarming and puzzling to her. After experiencing her medical and spiritual healing from depression, Dr. Scott began her journey to understand the complexities of mental illness and the broad stigmatization propagated in her cultural and religious communities. Realizing in a short time that the hurdles were deeply embedded and seemingly impenetrable, she set out to explore the biblical truths that would help aid others suffering in similar areas of various mental diseases and abnormalities. Demonization of Mental Illness takes an academic and theological look into the myths and erroneous viewpoints that perpetuate the silence of suffering individuals within the Body of Christ. This book seeks to provide for clergy and laity factual knowledge on the subject of "mental wholeness" which has eluded the religious community for years and ignite a productive conversation that will provide the precious people of God to find places of wellness that will assist in their journey for healing, both clinical and spiritual.
Youth Violence in Context

Youth Violence in Context

This book places youth violence within a Routine Activity Ecological Framework. Youth violence, specifically youth exposure to community violence and youth perpetration of violent behaviors, occur within various contexts. Ahlin and Antunes situate their discussion of youth violence within an ecological framework, identifying how it is nested within four mesosystem layers: community, family, peers and schools, and youth characteristics. Contextualized using an ecological framework, the Routine Activity Theory and Lifestyles perspective (RAT/LS) are well suited to guide an examination of youth violence risk and protective factors across the four layers. Drawing on scholarship that explores predictors and consequences of youth violence, the authors apply RAT/LS theory to explain how community, family, peers, schools, and youth characteristics influence youth behavior. Each layer of the ecological framework unfolds to reveal the latest scholarship and contextualizes how concepts of RAT/LS, specifically the motivated offender, target suitability, and guardianship, can be applied at each level. This book also highlights the mechanisms and processes that contribute to youth exposure to and involvement in violence by exploring factors examined in the literature as protective and risk factors of youth violence. Youth violence occurs in context, and, as such, the understanding of multilevel predictors and preventive measures against it can be situated within an RAT/LS ecological framework. This work links theory to extant research. Ahlin and Antunes demonstrate how knowledge of youth violence can be used to develop a robust theoretical foundation that can inform policy to improve neighborhoods and youth experiences within their communities, families, and peers and within their schools while acknowledging the importance of individual characteristics. This monograph is essential reading for those interested in youth violence, juvenile delinquency, and juvenile justice research and anyone dedicated to preventing crime among youths.

Autopsy derives from the greek word autopsia, which means act of seeing with one’s own eyes. It remains the most objective and accurate method to understand human. disease. Unfortunately, the volume of autopsies in teaching hospitals has decreased dramatically over the past years. The crucial factors that account for this are the recent progress and development of new technologies, especially in diagnostic imaging, immunology, cell biology and genetics. Additionally, the perpetual fear of legal liability by physicians accounts for its further decline. Consequently, physicians and medical students are engaged in fewer autopsies and are not reaping the rich educational rewards that accompany these examinations. The purpose of the autopsy is not only to establish the cause of death, but also to determine the nature and course of the disease process. Our goal with this book is to emphasize the importance of the post-mortem exam and the correlation between pathologic material and clinical data by analyzing actual cases with problem-based methodology. The focus of this handbook is on cardiovascular disease, and when appropriate, other disease categories are included if they have an impact on cardiovascular function. The approach is more than the usual clinico-pathological correlation. Rather, we attempt to present the material from the perspective of the autopsy table. We use the clinical data as the initial framework and the autopsy findings to develop a true understanding of the disease and the associated pathophysiology of the condition.

Poems for children are different, especially depending on the age of kids. "The First Steps" are naughty rhymes for 2-6 years old kids. There are many talking and funny animals in this book. Indeed, the children's poetry is a genre of literature where should not be a sadness and negative emotions. The joke is the first sign of humor and, if you do not want your children grew up as sullen persons, who do not understand humor, try to joke with kids around more often; read them the funny stories and poems. The great thing about reading the comic rhimes for kids is: they're having fun, laughing with joy, their spirit is lifting. It turns out that reading of such works even useful for health because the hormone of happiness is secreted as well. The young and always smiling Pastor Joel Osteen wrote in his book "Your Best Life Now" (page 277), "One of the healhiest things you can do is learn to smile more often. When we smile, it sends a message to our whole body, setting the tone for our lives. ...A relaxed attitude will not only lengthen your life, it will make it more enjoyable". What will find the young readers in the poetry by Maria Volodina? The perfect examples of this kind of poetry are rhymes "Playful Puppy" -"My mammy brought me little toy: to fill my heart with pure joy I play whole day, I play whole night, I even stopped my tale to bite " Or "Kitty's Grief" Little kitty cries with pity: she will need with mouse meeting; It because those greedy people do not let her steal a meatloaf". Or "My Little Sister" Soon my sister will get bigger and I am going play with her. I will teach her pull the trigger: my water-gun can make the rain... We will make the rain for plants; plants will grow, sis will grow, she already four days old These humorous and naughty poems for kids are easy to read, sing or even yell loudly. These mischievous rhymes could be called the teasers, they may be remembered from childhood and passed from generation to generation. Some people have no sense of humor at all becuase they did not have funny books or role models during their childhood. However, such books form the basis of a non-trivial perception of reality. They form the basis of optimistic vision of the world. So, have fun with yor kids The second book "Yard Sale" is written in the same style and available for older children.

Poems for children are different, especially depending on the age of kids. The "Yard Sale" is funny poems for 5-10 years old kids. Actually, this bokk fits for everybody, even adults, because, let's admit, we're all children somewhere deep inside, no matter how old we are. The funny poems for kids are pretty much serious layer of poetic works which form the basis of non-trivial perception of reality. There are many talking and naughty animals in this book. The great thing about reading the comic rhymes for children is: they're having fun, laughing with joy, their spirit is lifting. It turns out that reading of such works even useful for health because the hormone of happiness is secreted also. The perfect exampes of this kind of poetry are rhymes "Special Bat" "These Bats're resting upside-down; But this one not the same as others: He keeps his head on top precise... - "What are you doing, little brother?" - "I do the yoga exercise ". Or there is another one humorous rhyme - "Yard Sale" "The Lady-Bug does start yard sales, She offers to Hedgehog to buy some pretty nails; He was surprised then burst uot crying: -"Hah-hah-hah Hah-hah-hah Don't be silly, little Bug I don't need your pins and nails Look at me: I have my own Pretty spiny little coat With one hundred spiky nails " These humorous and naughty poems for kids are easy to read, sing or even yell loudly Some people have no sense of humor at all just because they did not have funny books or role models during their childhood. Learning to Improve the World: How Injaz Al-Arab helps youth in the Middle East develop an entrepreneurial mindset

The world is changing rapidly. Globalization and technological innovation have created new opportunities and challenges for individuals, communities and nations. With these changes it has become necessary to revisit to what extent children and youth are being prepared to be effective and productive citizens and workers, and to what extent they are equipped not just to understand the future, but to invent it. In the 21st century the skills and dispositions necessary to live meaningful lives, to participate socially, civically and economically, have expanded from those which were sufficient in the past. Over the last decades, an emerging consensus has formed around the idea that knowledge of facts alone is insufficient to prepare youth for a future that is increasingly volatile and uncertain. Students must be educated not just to understand the world, but to improve it, they need to be equipped to become creators and makers, and not just spectators of the world in which they live. Entrepreneurship education, a specific set of educational programs aimed at teaching students and adults the skills to initiate and sustain a business, is an avenue to develop some of these skills and attitudes. This book presents the study of a program designed to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among high school students in the Middle East. The results of this study advance knowledge about how entrepreneurship education helps youth develop some of these competencies, preparing them to 'Improve the world'. The study focuses on the impact of an entrepreneurship education program administered to high school students in six countries in the Middle East, a region with relatively high levels of youth unemployment. The program is relatively simple, and therefore scalable, it involves bringing to schools a person with business experience, who works with youth teaching them how to create a company. The results of this study will be of interest not only to those who care about the opportunities available to youth in the Middle East. The search for effective avenues to help students develop an expanded set of skills extends beyond the Middle East to the entire global education ecosystem. While the levels of youth unemployment are higher today in the Middle East than in other regions of the world, many predict that the fourth industrial revolution, resulting from increased and ubiqitous automation and the development of artificial intelligence, will eliminate many of the jobs currently available. Together with neurotechnological and genetic developments these changes will create new opportunities as well as serious challenges, which require a heightened commitment to putting humans at the center, and empowerment as a goal (Schwab 2017). These developments create a new urgency to advance knowledge about how to empower youth to invent the future, in the Middle East and beyond.
