Secrets, lies, and betrayals are in everyone's past. They write our histories and define our world. Zander Paine knows this more than most thanks to a second chance September Rae's Mother blessed him with centuries ago. Zander considers this blessing a curse that left him not quite a supernatural, and not at all who he once was. Alone, he wandered in the shadows spreading the false history of the supernatural- until Queen September is finally born. After a chance meeting with the Queen, Zander is sent on a mission to Nevada with the High Priestesses to kill a warlock who has been siphoning magical powers. He's there to prove himself worthy, but a lost family connection has him reliving his past as he tries to help the beautiful she-wolf, Paige Sky, escape her step-father's claim. When the Queen's court comes to his aid to help him rescue Paige, the rest of the supernatural community decides to challenge the Queen and her court for their Kingdom. Zander is determined to show his loyalty, to right the wrongs of his shattered past, and finally atone for his sins, but the odds are not in his favor. When the truth about his mysterious past is finally revealed and the battle begins, will the Queen, her court, and the only woman he's ever loved, turn their back on him or will he win it all and be truly blessed?
Beating Cancer One Truth at a Time: What You Believe Determines Your Journey

Beating Cancer One Truth at a Time: What You Believe Determines Your Journey

Marianne C. McDonough

Beating Cancer One Truth at a Time is a how-to book combining positive, practical tips with insights based on both research and survivors' testimonies. It follows the author's award-winning 8 Steps to Getting Real with Cancer, Empowering Newly Diagnosed Patients and Those Who Love Them, published in 2016. Although similar in focus, the second book differs in text and offers additional research, information, and interactive questions that stimulate self-reflection and/or group discussion. As in her debut book, survivor Marianne McDonough continues to describe the needs, complexities, and struggles of newly diagnosed patients. She likens the first moments of dealing with diagnosis to "stepping into the cockpit of a commercial airbus, sitting at the controls, and wondering what all those strange buttons do. At first you don't even know the destination much less the timing. You have no idea how to fly the plane, but there you are, a pilot learning how to something you never wanted to learn. Moreover, you feel as though you have already crashed."Clearly McDonough understands her readers. With a prevailing tone of compassion and respect, she is frank, honest, and direct, but meticulously non-judgmental as she urges readers to deal with cancer's harsh issues proactively. To facilitate this goal, the author presents myths that patients often encounter such as cancer is always fatal, too complicated to understand, or will define you for the rest of your life. Methodically, one truth at a time, McDonough helps readers reconstruct and articulate their own beliefs based on what makes the most sense to them after self-reflection and careful consideration of input from respected sources. The author often reiterates her main premise that what you believe truly determines your journey.Describing Beating Cancer One Truth at a Time as a "simple path for a complicated journey," McDonough doesn't shy away from tough subjects such as residual effects from treatment and fear of relapse. But throughout the book she fosters hope, positive mindsets, and proactive actions that will help readers, as she says in her introduction, "attack cancer with a dedicated vengeance and more determination and courage" than they ever thought possible.

105 Essential or Fundamental French Verbs is a bilingual French-English manual which presents an innovative learning method for those who wish to master the French indicative mood. By classing the verbs in terms of frequency of use, both oral and written, the teacher or student is able to progress logically and at his own rhythm. In order to help English speakers learn the correct French pronunciation, a simple color coding has been applied to signal complex sounds and to indicate silent letters. To reinforce a cumulative learning experience, each new element is subsequently recapitulated through diagrams and tables that show how it is used in the different tenses, as well as how these are formed. MARIANNE YAYANE VERBUYT is a teacher and educator with a passion for transmitting knowledge. After more than two decades working within some of the most renowned scholoastic institutions in Europe and the United States, as a co-author of the book, "Apprendre malgr le handicap ou la maladie" and as the primary educator highlighted in the acclaimed documentary, "Sur la route couleur de sable", Marianne decided to apply all of her pedagogical experience to understanding the mechanisms of learning. Integrating feedback from her many students, she figured out a coherent and innovative way to communicate the complexities of the French language to a non-Frenchspeaker. The simple and graphic aesthetic of this manual is intended to transform the student into a powerful particiapnt in his or her own learning process.

Though Lucy, Go See is the story of how a young girl from rural Iowa becomes an international model and the trouble she gets into and out of, and how she learns about the powerful autonomy of her sexual desire, it is also a deeper story of how integrity is formed while carrying an unvoiced, unrecognized wound. It is the story of a beautiful and ambitious young American woman whose instincts, curiousity, and principles are her guides on a quest simply to be herself in a world where she is repeatedly challenged by unrepentant male privilege. It is also the story of how a powerful mother's voice can aid in that journey. It is a deep, rollicking, riveting, unusually humorous, touching adventure in love, sex, and geography.

Recent calls for justice reform have put a spotlight on how the police enforce the law in the United States. How a person's constitutional rights may be legally thwarted during police interrogation, however, has not been part of any meaningful discussion on police reform. This novel book examines the intersections of the law and policing discourse through the detailed analysis of a large corpus of United States federal court rulings, starting with Miranda v. Arizona (1966). It covers a wide range of topics, including the history of police interrogation in the United States, the role of federal law in handicapping a person's ability to invoke their right to counsel, and the invocation game of police interrogation that may lead a variety of suspects to change their discursive preferences. It highlights the need for American police interrogation reform, exploring the paths taken by other jurisdictions outside of the United States.
