Jeremy Graff has it all. He's one of the most successful real estate agents in New York City, dealing in only the most expensive and exclusive properties. He makes millions with every sale, but something is missing. Simply put, he isn't happy. Only his family brings him joy, but he has little time to spend with them. One Christmas, Jeremy decides it's time for a career change. He stumbles across a business opportunity that seems perfect-a chance to own and operate his own bakery. Here, finally, is a chance to do something he really enjoys. From the moment he buys the bakery, something changes within Jeremy-and while others die around him, he remains young and vital. Somehow, he's defeated the aging process. Jeremy Graff is going to live forever, but immortality has its drawbacks. How often can you watch those you care about die? Jeremy finally has all of the time he needs, but now time has become his enemy. Somehow, Jeremy's life is tied to the bakery. It's a puzzle, and one Jeremy might have an eternity to ponder. A. Alico's Martin Alexandre offers a bittersweet holiday fable about love, family, and the nature of mortality.

A French illustrator and engraver from c.1885 until his death in 1926, Maurice Fran ois Alfred Martin was born in Boulogne sur Seine, France on 12 Oct 1863. He was an obscure artist for many years but that quickly changed after he started illustrating erotic literature under the name he is best known, Martin Van Maele. More than a checklist but perhaps less than a full-on bibliography, this work is as complete as I have been able to make it after years of research. However, it IS a work in progress. Martin Van Maele's erotica illustrations were often unsigned or signed with a pseudonym, done in very limited editions, with the publishers of his work being just as elusive; making it all the more difficult to ever define this list as complete. The book is divided into the types of documents his artwork is found: Books, Portfolios, Periodicals, Cartoons, Bookplates, etc. with each title linked to an example of the artwork (where possible). In addition, there are biographical sketches of Van Maele, Charles Carrington and Jean Fort.

Martín Rivas (1862) is a novel by Alberto Blest Gana. Regarded as the first Chilean novel, Martín Rivas is a powerful story of romance, class, and national unity from an author who served for decades as a diplomat and ambassador for Chile. Inspired by the social realism of Honoré de Balzac, Blest Gana retains his European roots while remaining true to the emerging culture of his country. Martín Rivas has always feared the walls closing in. Born and raised in a poor mining community, he sees the limits placed on the lives of his friends and family. Generational poverty, instability, and bad health plague the workers of northern Chile, and he dreams of something more for his life. With his father’s approval, Rivas travels to Santiago to take a job as a servant. Working in the home of a wealthy aristocrat, he does his best to acclimate himself to the manners and desires of the rich, but ultimately loses focus to his employer’s beautiful daughter. Madly in love, he feels the walls inch closer once again. How will he reconcile his emotions with society’s disapproval of relationships between members of opposing classes? How will he convince a man who controls his livelihood to allow him to court his own daughter? As he agonizes over his newly complicated reality, Rivas recalls how much he has overcome and wonders if it was worth the endless struggle. With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Alberto Blest Gana’s Martín Rivas is a classic of Chilean literature reimagined for modern readers.
