Prepare to Feast on LIfe Robert (Raub) Karr and his best friend, Walter, planned a relaxing cruise from Seattle to Mexico. Little did they know that their vacation would be upended when they met the author and creator of Auntie Mame, Patrick Dennis, on board the ship. Dennis was traveling under an assumed name. And much like his character Mame, Patrick Dennis brought a whirlwind of mayhem, fun, and chaos into the lives of those onboard the ship.Raub, Walter, and Patrick became fast friends, with Patrick attracting a collection of eccentrics and oddball characters wherever he went. What was supposed to be a simple cruise turns into a full-blown adventure when Patrick and Walter jump ship and disappear into Mexico. Later, Raub comes to their rescue. Wealthy widows, art connoisseurs, masked midget wrestlers, ladies of the night, and hunting rats are just part of the trio's comical escapades. The story behind At Sea with Patrick Dennis: My Madcap Mexican Adventure with the Author of Auntie Mame is as fascinating as the memoir itself. When Raub Karr passed away in 2017, his memoir languished unpublished and was doomed to be lost forever. Fortunately, theatrical hair designer, Bernie Ardia, rescued the manuscript from obscurity. Ardia instinctively knew this story needed to be shared with the world. So, don your best jewelry, fix yourself a cocktail, and prepare to laugh as you come on a madcap Mexican adventure with Patrick Dennis, Raub, and Walter. To quote Patrick Dennis's most famous character, Mame, "Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving."Patrick Dennis, Raub, and Walter pile their plates high and feast from the banquet of life.

Yellowstone meets INTO THIN AIRPatrick Flint is about to make the most harrowing climb of his life. When the body of Patrick's beautiful young climbing partner floats up dead in the creek behind the Flint home, rumors about the two of them explode, thrusting Susanne into the role of the woman scorned and the crosshairs of the police. If he fails to summit, he may lose his life. And his wife. The Flints' teenage kids get sucked into the turmoil, too, with Perry making decisions that could cost him his future, and Trish becoming entangled with two local thugs, just as a past love resurfaces in her life. It's a race against time, a killer or killers unknown, and the mountain itself. With their freedom at stake and a killer on their heels, Patrick and Susanne must learn to trust again, revisit old memories, and delve into secrets, all to unearth a treasure the likes of which tiny Buffalo, Wyoming has never known."Best books I've read in a long time "Excerpt: "Patrick rolled to his back, cradling his hand. The grade of the slope surprised him, and his roll extended to two, then three rotations. At that point, unfortunately, the ground dropped away to the creek, and his roll turned into a free fall. The sensation of air and gravity ended with a thump on the back of his head. The ringing of bells. Splashing. Wetness. Cold, over his body. On his face.He was in Clear Creek.Patrick spewed water from his mouth and rose to his elbows. He wasn't sure what hurt worst. Hand. Head. His skin everywhere. He was aware of sounds like voices shouting as if they were outside a glass dome, with him on the inside. He'd figure them out in a second. But before he could do anything to remedy his current situation, something bumped into his leg.It bumped him again. And then a third time.Moving slowly, he used his uninjured hand to support his ringing head and lifted it higher to see what was thumping him. Nothing that he could see. Not above the water anyway, which was only six inches deep. He strained, lifting further, and then he saw it. It was a log, or something like a log, floating but not floating. Half in, half out of the water. Long and narrow. With moss billowing around one end. Stubby branches halfway down its length. That's not moss, and that's not a log.Crunched hand bones forgotten, Patrick scrambled to his knees for a closer look at the lifeless young woman in their backyard creek."SKIN AND BONES is the eighth book in the Patrick Flint series of thrilling mysteries, a spin-off from the What Doesn't Kill You saga.If you like C.J. A book of poems by Aubrey De Vere, LL.D. Once more our readers are indebted to a living poet for wide circulation of a volume of delightful verse. The name of Aubrey de Vere is the more pleasantly familiar because its association with our highest literature has descended from father to son. In 1822, sixty-seven years ago, Sir Aubrey de Vere, of Curragh Chase, by Adare, in the county of Limerick - then thirty-four years old - first made his mark with a dramatic poem upon "Julian the Apostate." In 1842 Sir Aubrey published Sonnets, which his friend Wordsworth described as "the most perfect of our age;" and in the year of his death he completed a dramatic poem upon "Mary Tudor," published in the next year, 1847, with the "Lamentation of Ireland, and other Poems." Sir Aubrey de Vere's "Mary Tudor" should be read by all who have read Tennyson's play on the same subject.

The Life of St. Patrick (Leabhar Breac, 9th century) "Populus qui sedebat in tenebris vidit lucem magnam." The people that sat in darkness beheld a great light. Et sedentibus in regione et in umbra mortis lux orta eis. They that were in the land and in the shadow of death found a light whence came their illumination. The Holy Spirit, the spirit which is nobler than every spirit, the spirit which inspired both churches of the Old Law and of the New Testament with the grace of wisdom and prophecy, it was that spirit which spake those words through the mouth of the chief prophet Isiah, son of Amoz; de cujus laude dicitur quod non tam dicendus esset propheta quam evangelista. To praise him, St. Jerome said that it were meeter to call him an evangelist than a prophet, because of the clearness and the fitness for the New Testament wherewith he told the tidings of Christ. Ita enim universa Christi ecclesiaeque mysteria ad lucidum prosecutus est ut non eum putes de futuro vaticinari sed de praeterito historiam texere. For such was the clearness wherewith he told all the mysteries of Christ and the Holy Church that one would not think that it was a prophecy of things to come he was making, but a declaration of things already foregone after they had been done completely. Now one of his manifest prophecies is what is here set forth through a narrative of what is past.
