Saved by Tim is the 10th book in the Cracking the ABC Code Learn to Read series. It uses the same 20 key words introduced in Book 9 multiple times in different sentence structures throughout the book, while continuing to use the 80 words introduced in Books 1 to 8. In addition, it uses decodable content words based on the 'er' digraph.
Join first-time motorhomers Barby and Tim as they experience a steep and bumpy learning curve travelling around Europe. Even though their 'trial weekend' at Whitby coincides with a huge storm, they head off a week later on a four-month trip around Europe! The adventure almost comes to an abrupt end within the first couple of days when technology and literature combine to place them on the edge of a precipice on an unlit track to nowhere. Negotiating steep-sided single-track mountain passes and narrowly avoiding collision with unexpected low bridges - but somehow failing to dodge an inflatable arch, a low hanging tree and a supermarket barrier - become just part of a normal motoring day. Filled with amusing anecdotes, interspersed with solid information about the places visited and practical advice and tips on what to do - and what not to do - when motorhoming, this book takes a wry look at how Barby and Tim cope with the peculiarities of motorhome life, enjoying good (and occasionally not so good) local food and wines (sometimes a little more than they should!). They marvel at some of the iconic sights of Europe and indulge their other shared loves of music, history and language, plus occasional artistic opportunities for Barby, whilst having lots of fun. The book is sure to amuse, educate and inspire anyone considering buying a motorhome or venturing into Europe for the first time, or indeed anyone who fancies a fun-filled trip around Europe.

An engaging and motivating children's book about a cat and a rat, perfect for new readers with budding letter sound and decoding knowledge This decodable book moves through 4 difficulty levels, based on phonics knowledge, and each chapter builds on the one before. Children are prompted to learn new skills, at an appropriate pace, to be able to go on to read the next chapter.STAGES books are formatted in a special way to have new readers focus on only decoding first. In these books, the text is on the right-hand side of the book, and the picture that matches that text is on the next page (instead of the text and picture being side by side). This is so the readers read the text alone, without the aid of a picture that may give them a clue as to what a word may be. After they read the text, they turn the page to confirm meaning of what they read and build engagement and enjoyment Each story has comprehension questions, including one that helps the reader connect the story to their own life. For the phonics skills listed below, the book contains descriptions of what they mean (for example, a "digraph" is two letters that when put together make a whole new sound. For example, ch, th, and sh).Story One, Pat and Tim: Phonics Skills: Consonants f, s, p, m, r, c, h, n, j, g, f, v, z; Short Vowels: a, i, o; High-Frequency Words: (None);Description: In this first story, the reader meets the characters Pat and Tim and learns some of the things they like to do together.Story Two, The Mad Pals: Phonics Skills: Add consonants w, x, b, d; Short Vowels: Add e; High-Frequency Words: the, to;Description: Now that the reader knows the characters, we move into a story about a time when the two friends were mad at each other. Children can connect to the story with their own life and friends.Story Three, Off to the Sand: Phonics Skills: Add double consonants, beginning and ending blends, K sound spelled "ck"; Short Vowels: Add u; Word Ending: -s; High-Frequency Words: have, of, go;Description: Pat and Tim spend a delightful day going on a day trip to the beach. Tim came to Canada from England in 1957 at the age of 17. He worked in Toronto and Sudbury until 1960 when he joined the RCAF as an Aircrew Radio Operator. He was trained in Winnipeg, where he met and married Marty, who was a student nurse at St. Boniface Hospital. Tim became interested in the climate while on Search and Rescue in the north out of Winnipeg. He got out of the Airforce in September 1968 and went to University. He received his BA Honours at the University of Winnipeg, (United College), and his Masters (Climatology) at the University of Manitoba. He taught as a lecturer at the University of Winnipeg in 1972 and completed his PhD, (Climatology) at Queen Mary College at the University of London, England. Tim spent the better part of his career trying to convince the world that 'Anthropogenic Global Warming' was a man-made hoax. He fought lawsuits, death threats, website hackings, lies and attacks, too numerous to mention. A sense of humour unequaled. Generous to a fault.
Tim the shark is born in the Atlantic Ocean. He loves exploring the waters with his brother and sister. One day his curiosity gets the best of him. Tim spies something new in the water and he gets caught on a hook. Fishermen cut off all of his fins except one and use them to make soup. Tim is sad that he only has one fin and that the other sharks make fun of him. He wants to retaliate, but then he remembers some of the lessons he learned in Sunday school. A story of forgiveness, this picture book for children shares the tale of Tim and how he does the right thing even though it hurts. It tells how the one-finned shark knows peace through his love toward others and lives a happy life.

The short excerpts in this book, taken from Pope Francis homilies and addresses since becoming pope, reflect his warm pastoral style and cover themes that we can expect to hear from him again and again: the mercy of God, the scandal of poverty, the need to come out of ourselves to evangelize, the call to unity in the Church, and the challenge to become true disciples of Jesus and not part-time Christians. This book will both challenge Catholics and fill them with the hope that God s mercy endures forever. Makes a thoughtful and beautiful gift. Quote from the Book God does not wait for us to go to him, but it is he who moves toward us, without calculation, without quantification. That is what God is like. He always takes the first step; he comes toward us. Pope Francis
