After years of hearing stories about my grandfather's disappearance, I began doing research into his life. Recently retired, I had the time, and there was nothing more important than possibly finding out what remained a mystery for over eight decades. It ended up being a very fascinating adventure, uncovering facts and tying together all the loose ends that unfolded before my eyes. I talked to folks in distant places, wrote to absolute strangers about my quest, and was amazed at the responses I received. Thrust into the lives of those who lived before my time, I developed visions of how it must have been to survive in what most people now refer to as "the past" or "back in the day." My findings became too precious to just file away somewhere without sharing them with my siblings, so I began to develop a story based on factual data. Then, one day it became even more intriguing when a young boy entered my life spiritually and inspired me to put forth more than the novel about my grandfather. It's all contained in this book that I'm happy to call "JINDRICH, The Baker." Growing up in a large family in Independence, Ohio, the author had a strong Catholic upbringing with values that still remain deep-seated. His graphic arts background spurred his creativity, and many years in sales gave him treasured knowledge of working with people. He and his wife of 54 years raised three sons in Southwest Florida, and they now reside in Northern Georgia. John attends St. Brendan Catholic Church and is his wife's right hand in leading the Garden Ministry there. He enjoys home improvement projects, playing tennis with his special needs son, Jimmy, and walking with his wife along the greenway close to their home.

Black Postmaster in a White Town the Lynching of Frazier Baker and His Daughter
Frazier B. Baker a married, 40 year-old African-American schoolteacher and the father of six children was appointed postmaster of Lake City, South Carolina in 1897 under William McKinley the 25th President of the United States. Local whites objected and had undertaken a campaign to force his removal. When these efforts failed to dislodge Baker, a mob attacked him and his family at night at their house, which also served as the post office. Baker and his infant daughter Julia Baker died at his house after being fatally shot during a white mob attack on February 22, 1898. The mob set the house on fire to force the family out. His wife and two of his other five children were wounded, but escaped the burning house and mob, and survived. On December 10, 2018, U.S. Representative. James Clyburn, D-S.C., introduced a bill to rename the Lake City Post Office after Baker, saying it would ensure that his story won't be forgotten. The state's entire congressional delegation co-sponsored the bill, and President Donald Trump signed it into law December 21, 2018.

Jake Baker Mystery fans had awaited yet one more intrigue-filled plot involving the renowned Mississippi attorney Jake Baker and his longtime Vietnam Navy comrade Joe Bremer who now runs one of the most successful high-end security firms in the Southeast. With the 2017 death of Arnold Dyre, author of the first three books in the series, faithful readers had feared they would hear no more of the somewhat mysterious, bigger-than-life Baker, the master-in-the courtroom who finds himself time and time again in the midst of a crime-ridden situation that cries out for justice to be served. Like a phoenix rising, thanks to a partial manuscript left behind by the late author coupled with the writing talent of his younger sister, readers discover the protagonist Jake Baker finds once again strongly entrenched in a plot full of criminal actions and their deep, long-running ramifications. This time, however, the homicide that jumpstarts the action is committed by Baker's righthand man, Joe Bremer himself. The homicide, whether it can be established as justifiable or not, ultimately pales as layers of tragic crime destroy lives and leave the greater Jackson, Mississippi area in the throes of a full-blown drug war with the Dixie Mafia. Without missing a beat, debut novelist Mary Jo Dyre picks up with the too-close-to-home homicide case that her brother used to initiate Dark Spot's partial plot, filled with the depraved actions of a life gone wrong. Following her brother's lead, Dyre plays out a story line that poignantly captures the tangled, complex web of humanity that often results when one man totally gives over to self-serving and darkness. As you read and follow the actions of a more mature, yet no less dynamic Baker and Bremer duo, you will also enjoy time with the Fat Fox, Foxy Malone and, of course, Jake's Bonnie. Also expect glimpses of other characters from the first three novels in the Jake Baker Series: Untruths and Truths Untold, Death Too Soon and Lost and Found. Just when you think you have figured out the many twists and turns of the various dark spots brought to light in this intriguing novel, you will find a depth of plot rising on the horizon that promises to leave you a long-devoted fan of the Dyre's Jake Baker character and the stories that seem to follow in his footsteps.
