Zumeist pr sentieren Horrorfilme ein als m nnlich zu identifizierendes Monster, dem ein junges, weibliches Opfer gegen ber gestellt ist. Das Erkenntnisinteresse dieser Arbeit liegt darin zu untersuchen, wie sich die Figuration des Monsters ver ndert, wenn es weiblich ausgestaltet wird und wie Weiblichkeit als Strukturmerkmal des Monsters pr sentiert wird. Als Beispiel dient der Film Carrie, welcher auf einem Roman von Stephen King basiert. Erz hlt wird von der Au enseiterin Carrie White, die sowohl unter der Ausgrenzung ihrer Mitsch lerInnen leidet als auch unter den Dogmen ihrer fundamental christlichen Mutter. Ausgangspunkt der Handlung ist das Einsetzen ihrer Menstruationsblutung, woran der Erhalt telekinetischer Kr fte gekn pft ist. Zunehmend lehnt sie sich gegen den radikalen Glauben ihrer Mutter auf und geht schlie lich ohne deren Erlaubnis auf den Schulball, wo es zur Katastrophe kommt: Bei ihrer Kr nung zur Ballk nigin wird sie von einer Mitsch lerin mit Schweineblut bergossen. Daraufhin nutzt sie ihre telekinetischen Kr fte, um den Ball in ein Blutbad zu verwandeln. Carrie White ist, im Gegensatz zu anderen Monsterfiguren, nicht offensichtlich als monstr s markiert. Vielmehr stellt der Film aus, welcher Gewalt sie ausgeliefert ist und unter welchem Kraftaufwand sie sich behaupten muss. Im Verlauf des Filmes entwickelt sie sich vom Opfer ihrer Mitmenschen zu deren M rderin. Demzufolge lautet die These, die dieser Arbeit zugrunde liegt, dass Carrie White strukturell von vornherein als Monsterfigur angelegt ist, sich ihre Monstrosit t jedoch erst im Fortgang der Handlung manifestiert. Dreisatz ist gar nicht schwer... nein, im Gegenteil. Das sieht man doch schon an diesem Beispiel: "Eine Kuh macht Muh, viele Kühe machen Mühe". Aber im Ernst: Wer sich als Schülerin oder Schüler mit der hier angebotenen Lern- und Übungskartei fit macht, für den verliert das Thema "Dreisatz" ganz bestimmt seinen Schrecken. Wenn die Kinder die Seiten "Was du zum Thema wissen solltest" eifrigst studiert haben und sich mit den zahlreichen Beispielen beschäftigt haben, helfen die 100 Aufgabenkarten, die in dem Band abgedruckt sind, das erworbene Wissen einzuüben und zu festigen. Als besonderer Service sind die Karteikarten als fertiger Satz auf Karton gedruckt zum Heraustrennen in diesem Band enthalten. Zunächst heißt es aber, ein wenig zu basteln, was ja auch Spaß macht. Man fertigt sich nach den Anleitungen in dem Band ein Aufbewahrungskästchen mit zwei Rubriken: "Kann ich" und "Kann ich noch nicht". Die Kärtchen werden kopiert, ausgeschnitten, in der Mitte gefalzt und zusammengeklebt. Die Lösungen zu den Aufgaben stehen jeweils auf der Rückseite der Kärtchen. Man kann sie dann laminieren, um sie haltbarer zu machen. So entsteht eine Lernkartei, die man über Jahre hinweg verwenden und ergänzen kann. Das Format der Aufgabenkarten von 9 x 13 cm ermöglicht auch, sie in handelsüblichen Flip-Fotoalben aufzubewahren.

Eelmisel sajandil, kahe maailmasõja vahel, tegutses Eestis arvukalt eri riikide teenistuses luurajaid, kellest on paraku õige vähe teada. Kuna huvi Nõukogude Liidus toimuva vastu oli toona suur, ent riik ise polnud sugugi turvaline, eelistasid salateenistused paigutada luurajaid Venemaa lähedastesse piirkondadesse, eriti Soome ja Balti riikidesse.Üks Eestis tegutsenud luurajaist oli Briti salateenistuse heaks töötanud Brian Giffey, kes jõudis Inglismaalt Helsingi kaudu Tallinna 1929. aasta jaanuaris, ülesandega hoida silma peal kõigel Nõukogude Liidus toimuval. Ta jäi Eestisse lõpuks üheteistkümneks aastaks, lõi siin oma agentide võrgustiku ja korraldas kohapealset luuretööd.Tema elu ja saatus haakub aga Eestiga muulgi moel: juba edenenud eas Giffey, kes peale kõige muu oli kõva napsi-, nalja- ja naistemees, armus Tallinnas viibides jäägitult noorde ja kaunisse Anni Orasesse, tuntud literaadi Ants Orase õesse, kes oli Giffeyga tutvunud diplomaat Oskar Kallase tütre Laine kaudu. Giffey lahutas oma eelmise abielu, abiellus Anniga ja elas temaga koos kuni surmani. Raamatus leiavad kajastamist Giffey ja Anni ühiselt Eestis veedetud aastad, siinsed olud ja kombed, nähtuna võõrsilt saabunu silme läbi, keda esialgu sidus Eestiga töine missioon, hiljem aga armastatud naise kaudu tekkinud isiklikud sidemed.
