I believe art comes in many different forms. A painter and his creation, a writer and the book, lyric or poem, music, or any form of expression really. I think everyone has an artist somewhere inside themselves. It helps us deal with the good and bad life brings us. There is just something about listening to that song or reading those words that can move us emotionally. This collection of 38 poems is my offering to you, and I hope that it inspires or provokes some kind of emotion in everyone, maybe helps someone deal with something they may be going through. If I never could write another single line again, that would make it worth it to me. I hope you enjoy this collection of poems as much as I enjoy sharing them with you. If everything works out this will just be the first of many books to come.
First published in 1941, this book examines how poetry might effectively be set to music. The substance of the text was originally delivered as a series of three talks on the BBC in September 1938, and examines the role of the poet in creating a libretto for which music needs to be written, as well as W. B. Yeats' enthusiasm for the revival of English song. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in the combination of music and words.
