AMERICA’S MELTING POT IS BOILING OVER.Millions of illegals strain an overburdened system. Crime rates skyrocket. From the Valley of the Sun to the halls of Congress, debate rages. All the while, murder and mayhem reign along the U.S.-Mexico border. From the hot-button state of Arizona, Ankarlo dared venture to the epicenter of the battle for America’s southern border. Now he dares you to absorb the heartbreaking stories and eye-opening discoveries he brought back from his undercover journey without finding yourself shaken, inspired… and compelled to act.Endorsements:“Instead of complaining about the “border problem,” Darrel Ankarlo set out to do something about it—he went there and lived it! In Illegals, Darrell provides a real and raw ‘boots on the ground’ look at our increasingly lawless southern border. This edition . . . will make you shake your head and say ‘no way’ as you’re presented with true stories and experiences about life along the border. This book will enlighten you and at times frighten you, but in the end you’ll know better than most politicians what’s really happening at the border.” —GLENN BECK
The Incarnation and the Church's Witness

The Incarnation and the Church's Witness

Darrell L Guder

For several years, argues Guder, contemporary Christian churches have often thought of their mission efforts as simply one more program of the church. In addition, outsiders have rightly criticized Christian mission efforts as exercises in cultural imperialism. In this provocative book, Guder argues that the incarnation of God in Jesus provides the foundational model for the practice of Christian missions in the world today. The incarnation is the culmination of God's activity and presence in the world, says Guder, for in this event God initiates the healing of a broken world. Using literary, historical, and social approaches to scripture, Guder claims the contemporary church should return to an ""incarnational mission"" in which the practice of Christian witness is ""shaped by the life, ministry, suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus."" Darrell L. Guder is the Henry Winters Luce Professor of Missional and Ecumenical Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary and the author of 'Be My Witness: The Church's Mission, Message, and Messengers'.
A Theology of Work

A Theology of Work

Given that so much of our contemporary lives are spent working and that so many major decisions and issues in life revolve around our work, it is surprising just how little serious theological reflection there is on the subject. A Theology of Work: Work and the New Creation makes work itself the subject of theological enquiry. From within Christian doctrine it asks the pressing questions 'what is work and work's place in God's economy and thus, how should we be carrying out our work' Through dialogue with Jurgen Moltmann, Pope John Paul II and others, this book develops a genitive 'theology of work'. It offers a normative theological definition of work and a model for a theological ethics of work that shows work's nature, value and meaning now, and, quite uniquely, eschatologically related to the new creation. Throughout the book it is argued that work in its essence is about transformation and, as such, it is an activity consisting of three dynamically interrelated dimensions: the instrumental, relational, and ontological.

So Brilliant was William Penn's American Legacy that Thomas Jefferson, writer of the Declaration of Independence, called him, ""the greatest lawgiver the world has produced."" And brilliant he was...not only because Penn's Charter of Privileges provided the framework for the United States Government but also because of the underlying freedom it provided all people. In fact, our twenty-eighth president, Woodrow Wilson, was so convinced of William Penn's contributions to America's foundation that he said, ""America did not come out of New England.""

Learn how to couple inspired design with flawless execution to create your own striking, original furniture. In his latest book, The Artisan Furnituremaker, long-time furnituremaker Darrell Peart--author of Greene & Greene: Design Elements for the Workshop and In the Greene & Greene Style--brings all his experience to bear in providing a masterclass on the three fundamental requirements for success in the field of custom furniture design: creativity, design, and workmanship. The book offers a detailed examination of the design and production methods of the Greene brothers, legendary furnituremakers and architects of the Arts and Crafts Movement, and illuminates how the brothers achieved such brilliance in their designs, and how they collaborated so successfully with the craftsmen who brought their designs to life. The Artisan Furnituremaker goes on to show how you can combine all three elements-- creativity, design, and workmanship--in your own workshop and produce high quality, distinctively original pieces of your own. Peart covers how creativity is essential for fulfilling the desires of your customers, and how superb design translates creativity into an implementable schematic.Peart goes on to show that in order to create art that is infused with emotion and original in nature, one has to have intuition and inspiration. The book demonstrates this by exploring methods the author has used during his long career to forge a very successful custom furniture business that has produced art of lasting value.Peart draws upon William Varnum's book, Industrial Arts Design. However, he stresses that this is just a starting point, and that equations and rules cannot create original art. For that, intellect, intuition, and inspiration are required, all of which are discussed in relation to art and craft. From there Peart moves on to demonstrate how you can enhance your own design and craftsmanship abilities by a process he calls "Design DNA." Design DNA is a framework for asking the right questions, a procedure he examines at length. The Artisan Furnituremaker is the ultimate resource for creators looking to take their craft to the next level and produce striking, original work.

Cancer and Me

You simply say, "Oh, no, this can't be cancer " You talk to God like never before. And you realize it is time to get in touch with your inner self to learn who you really are. You ask questions like: "How will I come out of this, mentally and spiritually?" "Will I make it?" "Will my family make it? Have I prepared them for such a bumpy road?" Through it all, you learn to lean on God like never before, as well as on your praying friends. When treatment is over and good reports start coming in, you realize that you are a changed person. You have a new attitude about yourself; you realize you have a caring concern for others going through a similar trial. My desire is to reach out to those hurting "others", to give them hope and brighten their days. Perhaps, ultimately, even to encourage them in their personal relationship with God. Darrell Parrish is the only child of Dr. Fuchsia Pickett, renowned Bible teacher and author. Darrell was born and raised in Eden, North Carolina. He married and raised four children. He excelled as a self-taught businessman, receiving promotions from his first job selling ladies' shoes at age thirteen, to 20 years as general manager of sales and operations for the Trucking Industry. In 1982, he relocated to the Dallas area to become Business Administrator for his mother's church, which included a Bible College and other outreaches. In 1989, Darrell remarried and became the owner of the Queen of Hearts Costume and Magic Shop in Plano, Texas, which has enjoyed great success since 1982. Darrell's story is about a man who achieved much success, while enduring many physical problems throughout his life. Winning his battle with cancer inspired him to share his journey in the hope that he can encourage others.
