Eric Nilsson föddes 1903 i Harplinge i Halland och avled 1982 i Harplinge. "Skulptören" kallar vi honom i det dagliga talet och det var han – skulptör och mycket mer därtill. Hans far hade snickerifabrik i Harplinge och som barn började han i Döderhultarns anda att skära till figurer av överblivna träbitar från verk- staden. Men hans framtid fanns inte där. Han ville bli konstnär. Under fyra år utbildade han sig vid Slöjdföreningens skola i Göteborg och under ett år hos skulptören Charles Despiau vid Maison Watteau i Paris. Eric Nilsson blev en synnerligen verksam konstnär. Vida omkring i landet är hans konst, både kyrklig och profan, älskad av många. Denna bok följer honom i spåren och dokumenterar i ord och bild hans gärning.

Eric von Rosen (1879 1948) var den mytomspunne greven på Rockelstad slott i Sörmland, känd för sin samtid som forskningsresande och folkbildare. Han var äventyraren som ledde expeditioner i Sydamerika och Afrika och tidvis var han en av Sveriges mest sålda författare och hans föredrag drog fulla hus. Men för vår samtid framstår Eric von Rosen som en gåtfull person och hans eftermäle överskuggas av ett ideologiskt vägval. Han uppvisade uttalade sympatier för 1930-talets Hitlertyskland och hade en nära relation till sin svåger Hermann Göring. Nu tecknas för första gången en fullödig bild av människan bakom fasaden. Ur skuggornas glömska framträder en mångsidig personlighet som gjorde avtryck på flera områden: som etnograf, fotograf, samlare, kulturmecenat, godsägare och en tidig värnare av naturen. Genom brev, dagböcker och en historisk bildskatt stiger vi in i en förgången värld befolkad av några av Sveriges ledande adelsfamiljer och kulturpersonligheter. Vi möter bland andra Sven Hedin, Tyra Kleen, Erland Nordenskiöld, Evert Taube och Emil Zilliacus, alla med en särskild relation till greven på Rockelstad. Stort utrymme får även hustrun Mary, född Fock, och deras långa äktenskap som inrymde både passion och brutna löften. Biografin ger också ny kunskap om von Rosens kontakter till det nazistiska Tyskland en mer invecklad historia än vad som tidigare varit känt. Boken har ett förord av Svante Nordin.
