Der Wallfahrtsort Maria Weissenstein liegt in 1520 m Meereshohe in der Pfarrei Petersberg und gehort zur Gemeinde Deutschnofen im Sudtiroler Mittelgebirge, -Regglberg- genannt, sudostlich von Bozen. Er gilt als der grosste und bedeutendste Wallfahrtsort Tirols sudlich und nordlich des Brenners. Die jahrliche Besucherzahl ubersteigt die 100.000-Grenze bei weitem. Die Entstehung der Wallfahrtsstatte geht auf die Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts zuruck. Heute ist M.W. verkehrsmassig voll erschlossen. Die 1977 freigelegten Decken-Fresken stammen vom akad. Maler Joseph Adam von Molk aus Wien. Er schuf sie anlasslich der 200-Jahrfeier im Jahre 1753."
