Being a Grandmother and Mother made Carole Baird think of what she would tell her grandchildren about their heritage. LETTERS TO MADDIE gives life to not only her childhood but to her daughter's childhood too. Lest they be just stories, each letter to Maddie has a Postscript with a biblical moral and way to live the Christian life. Each letter comes to life with an exciting graphic for that story and becomes Carole's legacy to another generation. A fifth generation Texan, Carole Baird holds a BBA in finance and real estate from the University of Texas at Austin and owned her own real estate company. She was also the Director of a Ronald McDonald House for several years. Heeding the call to do more ministry Carole studied religious education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary at their Houston, Texas branch for two years. She was a home missionary in Galveston, Texas, and as such was the Director of Family Life Ministries and Director of Women on Mission at her church. She was involved with GA's (a girls' mission group) and taught the two-year-old Sunday school as well as Vacation Bible Schools. Carole now lives in retirement in Central Texas. This is her first finished work, but two other books are in process.
Best Friends With Benefits...at least that was the plan. No strings. No feelings. No drama, but everything's more complicated when you do it with a rock star. She's an aspiring tattoo artist with a taste for the rock 'n' roll lifestyle. So when her best friend Ian asks her to fill in as manager on his band's upcoming tour, twenty-four-year-old "Mack" Addams can hardly refuse-especially considering her recently unemployed status. But to Mack, Ian is more than just a rock god and BFF. Their friendship has had a few "benefits" from time to time, bringing steamy chemistry to the table that's second to none. If she wants to be an efficient band manager, she knows the secret hookups will have to stop-but it's not long before the pair is climbing in bed for an encore performance.Suddenly, being with the band isn't all fun and games, as deeply held feelings bubble to the surface and panic causes a major rift between the best friends. As Mack and Ian try to figure out what they truly mean to each other, new jealousies and rivalries ignite plenty of drama on Lost in Disneyland's long-awaited tour.A modern-day, rock 'n' roll romance, I'm with the Band explores the complicated dynamics of love, friendship, and learning to live with vulnerabilities on and off the road.
In a country whose citizens have experienced prolonged exposure to intractable conflict, are there unique features to be found in Israeli society's core beliefs? And how-and to what effect-have those beliefs changed across the decades? To answer these questions, the author deeply explores Israel's political culture. The author focuses especially on two circular processes: the two-way relationship between the course of the Arab-Israeli conflict and Israel's national identity; and efforts by leaders to shape that national identity while, in turn, shifts in public opinion exert influence on leadership positions. Drawing on extensive data including speeches, party platforms, school texts and curriculums, and public opinion polls, she offers both a unique analysis and a rich reference resource.
World Revolution: The Plot against Civilization By Nesta H. Webster Amongst all the books, pamphlets, and newspaper articles that are now devoted to the World Revolution through which we are passing, it is strange to notice how little scientific investigation is being brought to bear on the origins of the movement. A frequent explanation advanced, and, I believe, the most fallacious, is that the present unrest must be attributed to *' war weariness." Human nature, we are told, exasperated by the protracted horror of the recent international conflict, has become the victim of a crise de nerfs which finds its expression in world-wide discontent. In support of this theory we are reminded that former wars have likewise been followed by periods of social disturbance, and that by a process of analogy the symptoms may be expected to subside as the strain of war is relieved, in the same manner as they have subsided hitherto. It is true that political conflicts between nations have frequently in the past been followed by social upheavals - the Napoleonic Wars by industrial troubles in England, the Franco- Prussian War by revolutionary agitation not only in the land of the conquered, but of the conquerors - but to regard these social manifestations as the direct outcome of the preceding international conflict is to mistake contributing for fundamental causes. Revolution is not the product of war, but a malady that a nation suffering from the after-effects of a war is most likely to develop, just as a man enfeebled by fatigue is more liable to contract disease than one who is in a state of perfect vigor. Yet this predisposing cause is by no means essential to the outbreak of revolutionary fever. The great French Revolution was not immediately preceded by a war of any magnitude, and to the observant mind England in 1914 was as near to revolution as in 1919. The intervening World War, far from producing the explosion in this country, merely retarded it by rallying citizens of all classes around the standard of national defense. The truth is that for the last one hundred and forty- five years the fire of revolution has smoldered steadily beneath the ancient structure of civilization, and already at moments has burst out into flame threatening to destroy to its very foundations that social edifice which eighteen centuries have been spent in constructing. The crisis of today is then no development of modem times, but a mere continuation of the immense movement that began in the middle of the eighteenth century. In a word, it is all one and the same revolution - the revolution that found its first expression in France of 1789. Both in its nature and its aims it differs entirely from former revolutions which had for their origin some localized or... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Windham Press is committed to bringing the lost cultural heritage of ages past into the 21st century through high-quality reproductions of original, classic printed works at affordable prices. This book has been carefully crafted to utilize the original images of antique books rather than error-prone OCR text. This also preserves the work of the original typesetters of these classics, unknown craftsmen who laid out the text, often by hand, of each and every page you will read. Their subtle art involving judgment and interaction with the text is in many ways superior and more human than the mechanical methods utilized today, and gave each book a unique, hand-crafted feel in its text that connected the reader organically to the art of bindery and book-making. We think these benefits are worth the occasional imperfection resulting from the age of these books at the time of scanning, and their vintage feel provides a connection to the past that goes beyond the mere words of the text.

Growing up as a young Punjabi girl, I did not know where I stood in this world. Just like adults, children have their own insecurities and have to learn to overcome issues with self-confidence and self-esteem. I wrote this book to give children the courage to embrace themselves exactly as they are and just as they were created-birthmarks, moles, and all. This book is to help your child push past any limitations they face within themselves right now, rather than waiting until adulthood, when most of us come to the realization that we, at birth, had everything within us that we needed to take on any activity, sport, or passion.
