Or do we make it for ourselves?Penny Posner knows everything there is to know about good luck. Every day she wears her lucky bracelet on her wrist, her lucky socks on her feet, and Ferdinand, her lucky frog keychain, on her belt loop. And today she needs all the luck she can get so she'll be chosen to blow the shofar at the school's Rosh Hashanah picnic. But when she picks up a lucky penny, her best friend Mara warns her that it's actually bad luck, because it was face down. As everything starts to go wrong, Penny will try anything to change her luck, but all she does is make matters worse. Penny needs to shift her perspective on luck and fix her mistakes before the picnic and before she ruins her friendship with Mara, so she can make a fresh start for the new year.A comedic tale of superstition and how our perception influences our experiences and the world around us, with bouncy illustrations by Jon Davis.

Sergeant Penny was a jovial 40-something policeman in Cornwall. Dedicated to upholding the law, he took his position very seriously, but only up to a point. His one failing was that he sympathized with the wrecking gangs, who earned their living plundering wrecks around local beaches in spells of rough weather.Penny's mentor and lifelong friend was Doctor Mays. Kate Kessell was another of Penny's associates. Kate was pregnant with her seventh child when she survived the cholera pandemic of 1849 that took her six children and her husband. It was Kate who discovered the body of a young woman one foggy night as she was on her way home after visiting her pregnant daughter. The victim's half-naked body was sprawled on the low wall of a bridge over the River Amble - with a fisherman's knife protruding from her chest. This was Penny's first serious case since becoming a policeman, one that would take all his detection skills to unravel a seemingly perfect crime.About the Author: David John Wiles grew up a short walk from the River Thames and a beautiful centuries-old public park near London. He has lived the last 30 years in Cornwall. His first job followed the family tradition of boat building at major boatyards along the Thames. "My two brothers joined the RAF when they were 18, but I fancied the Royal Marines, and became a commando serving in the Far East." Then the author worked in the film industry at three of Britain's major studios until the industry began to wind down due the popularity of television. He then worked at three TV studios. This is his 13th book.

Relationships are the key to a happy and fulfilled life, but many people feel that good relationships are just out of reach, somehow beyond their control. That should not be the case The truth is that we are fully in charge of how we relate to others and others are in charge of they relate to us. We must have well-established boundaries so that others can do to us only what we allow them to do.Karen Delaney shares her thoughts on relationships in what she calls "stepping stones" that marked her pathway. Each page is a thought to consider and perhaps even ponder about relationships. This book is written with the intent to help you begin to live with more clarity in your relationships. By following the simple principles laid out in this book, you will find that others will be less able to manipulate and control your life, and instead of living a life of "default", you will begin to live a life of "design".

I find pennies everyday and I think of my beloved sister Lisa daily. I started finding pennies when I was in a dark place because her death was so hard to believe. I couldn't believe that we were not going to grow old together. We were one year apart and she was the oldest. I wrote this book "A Penny for your thoughts" because it was about my journey while I was in that dark place and I wrote all of my thoughts down on paper so the book was unedited. Some days you couldn't understand what I was writing and other days you can totally understand what I was writing. This book wasn't meant to make sense it was to show how depressed I really was when I lost my sister. The book was filled every comma, period, run-on sentence, and every grammatical error there was in black and white. Those pages that I wrote on were filled with nothing but darkness and pain because I really thought I was going to lose my mind. Losing my sisters and my mother back to back was so hard to handle and to comprehend. The first year in 2013 I lost my younger sister Tracey, 2014 I lost my sister Cherrie, 2015 I lost my sister Lisa, and then 5 months later I lost my mother. It seemed like death was knocking on every one of my family members' doors every year. It was starting to become very overwhelming to process, but God had a ram in the bush. Just when I thought I couldn't overcome the loss of Lisa's death God stepped in and gave me a brand new beginning of unconditional love that I will never be able to explain. God restored my heart, my mind, my peace, and my soul by blessing me with my first grandchild that I call Jassu'. Jassu' keeps me happy, busy, and peaceful. Who would've thought that I would come across this beautiful gem while shopping in the store God directed my attention to the jewelry department and I found a penny necklace, I call that destiny. Thank you for always listening to me.

This workbook was created for my language arts students and has been used successfully with fourth through seventh grade classes. My intentions were to provide a fun way to stir the imagination and creativity of my students and to open the door to the wonderful world of poetry. It contains instructions for writing Couplets, Haikus, Cinquains, Acrostics, Alliterations, Limericks, Free Verse, and ABCB form. Sample poems for each style are included along with detailed instructions for creating that style and illustrations that the students may color. There is a templet page for each style that the students can use for writing their own poems, and an index of rhyming words at the back of the book. As the author, I give all public, private, and homeschool teachers who purchase this workbook permission to copy all or any parts of it for use with their own students.
