सफ़र में धूप छाँव लिखने के इस सफ़र में मेरी यह किताब एक बड़े जंक्शन की तरह है। कई छोटे छोटे स्टेशनों से गुज़रत्ो हुए मैं यहाँ तक पँहुच सका हूँ । यहाँ तक का ये सफ़र बहुत लंबा (लगभग दो दशकों से भी ज्यादा) लेकिन बहुत सुकून देने वाला है। इस सफ़र में मुझे हिन्दी को जानने, अपनाने का सुअवसर मिला। सौभाग्यवश, हिन्दी ने भी मुझे अपनाया। लिखने के विषय में, मैं कभी भी समय के अधीन या किसी भी जल्दबाज़ी में नहीं रहा । हाँ ये और बात है कि कभी कभी विचारों का प्रवाह त्ोज होने से कुछ एक रचनाएँ बहुत कम समय में ही पूर्ण हुई। किसी किसी रचना के पूर्ण होने में तो कई महीनों का सब्र भी रखना पड़ा। मेरे इन्हीं अनुभवों का प्रत््यक्ष रूप है मेरा यह पहला संकलन। आप और मैं इस किताब के माध्यम से जुड़ पाए, ये बात बहुत ख़ास है मेरे लिए। मुझे आपकी प्रतिक्रिया और ये जानने का इंतज़ार रहेगा कि इस संकलन की कौन कौन सी रचनाएँ आपके ह्रदय तक पँहुच सकी। लेखक और पाठक का रिश्ता सिर्फ एक ख़रीदार होने तक सीमित नहीं है, ये बहुत अनूठा रिश्ता होता है। आप सभी पाठकों, गुरुजनों का भरपूर स्नेह और आशीर्वाद मुझे प्राप्त हो, यह मेरा सौभाग्य होगा । लिखने का ये सफ़र कहाँ तक है, कब तक है यह कहना कठिन है । किन्त्ुा जीवन के सफ़र में सफलताएँ और चुनौतियाँ, उस धूप छाँव की तरह हैं जो एक सफ़र को दिलचस्प बनाये रखती हैं। ः विवेक जोशी "जोश"

India's Aircraft Industry, despite having been formed as early as in December 1940 has been unable to meet the equipment needs of the aviation users, whether military or civil, in the country. As a consequence India imports all its aircraft needs from abroad. This situation needs to change. This book starts from an examination of the importance of aviation to the country both for military as well as or civil purposes. From here it goes on to trace the development of aviation in India. Then the book examines the Indian Aircraft Industry from studying the aircraft projects carried out by India. From these aircraft projects lessons and learning have been culled for use later in the book. Thereafter there are case studies carried out of the two leading airpower capability countries, the USA and erstwhile Soviet Union / Russia. There are also case studies of Brazil and China as these two countries were behind India in aviation in the 1950s but are globally competitive today, unlike India.
