In den f nfziger Jahren hatte die Frau ausschlie lich Hausfrau und Mutter zu sein, hatte 24 Stunden lang f r das Wohl und Wehe der Kinder da zu sein. Die sich aufopfernde Mutter und brave Ehefrau war das Leitbild. Ob aus Lust oder als Mitverdienerin f r den kleinen Luxus, berufst tige Frauen zahlten immer mit einem schlechten Gewissen. Berufst tige Frauen- obwohl es Millionen gab- waren gesellschaftlich weniger geachtet, und M nner, deren Frau zu Hause blieb, pflegten stolz zu sagen: "Meine Frau hat es nicht n tig, zu arbeiten." Lebensmittekrisen wurden schweigsam erduldet und mit Medikamenten behandelt. Dar ber zu sprechen war ein Tabu. Heute wollen Frauen in erster Linie leben- lange und gut. Sie bekennen sich dazu, dass es Unterschiede zwischen Mann und Frau gibt, dass M nner und Frauen unterschiedlich denken und f hlen, und stehen zu ihrer Weiblichkeit, zu ihren weiblichen Gef hlen. Weder wollen Frauen in Kindergeschrei und K che ersticken, noch wollen sie das private Gl ck der Karriere opfern. Wo liegt die Balance zwischen Beruf, Haushalt, Kinderzimmer und meinen Interessen, fragt sich die Frau von heute. Der Wunsch, weder auf ein Leben gemeinsam mit Kinder noch auf berufliche Emanzipation zu verzichten, bedingt die Doppelorientierung vieler M tter von heute. In das starre Gef ge der Erwerbswelt l sst sich ein Leben mit Kind jedoch schwer einpassen, ebenso wie die Anforderungen im famili ren Bereich- wollen sie die Eltern selbst erf llen- ein starkes berufliches Engagement ausschlie en. Politisch heikel, und letztlich unvollendet - 'Franziska Linkerhand', der letzte Roman der DDR-Schriftstellerin Brigitte Reimann kann ohne weiteres - auch wenn er 1974 posthum nur als Fragment erschien - als wichtigstes Werk der Autorin bezeichnet werden. Nicht nur, weil sie sich darin intensiv und u erst kritisch mit der Gesellschaft, in der sie lebte, auseinandersetzt. 'Franziska Linkerhand' ist auch ein sehr intimes Werk, das tief in das Seelenleben Brigitte Reimanns blicken l sst. Diese Untersuchung will dies ergr nden und zeigt, wo sich die Lebenswege, -ideale und -vorstellungen der Protagonistin und ihrer literarischen Sch pferin in dieser berkreuzen und entsprechen.
