I Don't Know How I Got Here But Here I Am: A Journey Through Chaos to Find Peace
There are two types of people in the world: dreamers and everyone else. The dreamer understands they are distinguished, knows anything is possible and believes their visions will come true if they work towards them. Nothing is too hard or too big for a dreamer: their faith alchemizes action by creating the reality of their dreams. This is a collection of stories about a dreamer, lost in the world, and unsure of how to escape the vicious cycles of life's underworld journey. Through a series of experiences and lessons, the dreamer manages to find her way back to clarity and purpose. With a little bit of faith, belief in herself, and a lot of lessons learned, she finds her way. I Don't Know How I Got Here But Here I Am is a memoir filled with many twists and turns. It's a journey of suffering, healing, and survival. Sharon Elise writes in an insightful, captivating and compelling voice that draws readers' attention, holding it until the final page. Her memoir is a beautiful reflection of life's journey and readers will connect intimately with the universal experiences shared. Life is not always easy but once you decide to take a leap of faith, there will be much to learn and ultimately much more to gain.

The Kiss: How an Innocent Gesture Exposed the Racist Underbelly of a Small Town
The Kiss is the story of two families, one black and one white, trying to navigate their way through the rapid changes and violence rampant in our nation during the Civil Rights Movement. Neither family was the least bit cognizant of the evil that would bring them together. An innocent peck on the cheek, after a victorious football game provoked a trail of brutality, death, destruction and ultimately, against all odds, a forbidden love. Set against the backdrop of the Civil Rights Movement, we follow Eddie Thorpe and Winston Roberts as their lives collide many times; each struggling in his own way against the changes coming to his world. We see the brutality spawned by the local KKK as the men's children are attacked. Roberts' son is murdered, and both men's daughters raped and left to die. The story's tapestry includes the frontlines of the movement, such as an attack on the Freedom Riders, the bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, a march in Little Rock, and other events of the time. With intrigue and unexpected surprises in the lives of various characters introduced through the story, Strickland takes readers through to a heartfelt ending when "Little Willis" joins the families in joy.The hateful acts of social injustice continue right to the end, with a young boy's courage tested as he is called upon to remember his mother's teaching that hate only creates more hate. A defiant act, nonetheless, brings him some satisfaction. The Kiss is another compelling novel by Sharon Hart Strickland. Readers will find a story where the plot builds, layer upon layer, to a dramatic closing uniquely appropriate for each of the characters. In this book, Strickland proves she can address a difficult issue; her vivid descriptions bring characters to life and helps them deal with bigotry and hatred; as fictionalized historical events move to an inevitable conclusion.Strickland's writing style is both eloquent and earthy. Her vocabulary is extensive, and she chooses words as skillfully as any artist chooses colors from a pallet. The effect--although sometimes painful to read--is writing that is beautiful and expressive. Racial strife never brings comfort; reading about it is raw, yet this historical novel by Strickland is impossible to put down Social justice waxes and wanes; at many levels, self-satisfied notions about civil order and structure continue to raise their nasty heads. Only when we agree to face social justice and take a stand for it, as Strickland has in writing The Kiss, is there any hope of removing hate, hurt, pain, brutality.

It is high summer in 1872. Farmers toil in the sweltering heat to harvest what promises to be a bumper crop. They work six days a week, sometimes sixteen hours a day. Wives and children participate in the intense labor. On Sunday, they feed their livestock, themselves, and then attend church. On June, 23, their reliable routine is shattered. The bones of this story are true. It was inherited from the author's father whose grandparents, Fred and Kate, were next-door neighbors to a thirteen-year-old girl named Mary. The decisions they participate in are destined to soak through four generations. Old Phil reflects on the happenings from his room in The Golden Meadows Home nearly sixty years later: "The whole world's been operatin' fer too long on 'bite and be bitten in return.'--Duck Legs Phil. What kinds of animal behavior will civilized individuals resort to to survive? What effect will gas lighting have? What is the legal role of Judge Lynch, of karma?

Truth of the Matter is You're Gonna Learn Today: Fictional Stories Based on Real Life Situations
Ladies "The Truth of the Matter you're gonna learn Today" is a book of fictional stories based on real life relationships. I know many of us can identify with several of these stories or know someone who has been in similar situations, which are depicted in this book. Most of my girlfriends have been pretty good at steering me away from relationships; especially when I've had my blinders on. The truth of the matter is none of us are perfect My question is when we enter a relationship with our eyes wide open and still see obvious signs that we shouldn't continue, why do we stay? The goal is to learn from our mistakes. I've had to learn to see things for what they were in my relationships. Then I had to learn to forgive before I entered into another relationship. It is so important to receive love when you heart has been mended. Ladies, no matter what happens learn to forgive and heal. Lastly, remember that............. #URFABULOUSFearlessAdmiredBeautifulUniqueLovingOptimisticUnforgettableSuccessfulThe truth of the matter is..................Most of us or someone you know has been the "other woman" in a relationship. The truth of the matter is..................Most of us or someone you know has entered into relationship that we really don't want to be in, but we need someone to take care of our sexual needs. The truth of the matter is..................Most of us or someone you know has entered into relationships because we need someone just to be the band aid that mends our broken heart from the past. The truth of the matter is..................Most of us or someone you know have been in a relationship just to get our bills paid.

The Broken Road to Mental Health: In Life and in Business
I should be dead today. Instead, I am gifted with a life beyond my wildest dreams and have yet taken that for granted. It is my responsibility to pass it on, the future is now. As I continue to witness the rising amount of suicides, overdoses, and senseless mass shootings in our country, I felt compelled to share my journey to mental wellness. I'm astonished daily that most colleagues in business and beyond are unaware of the incredible amount of free help available to jump on this broken road to mental health. As a sober woman of 25 years, I attribute all of my personal and business success to a 12-Step recovery program that I still attend today. I have also previously attempted suicide and have successfully lived a depression free life for 24 years. That comes will diligent work on myself along with the understanding that passing it on is a responsibility, not a choice. I do not have any clinical background, just straight up practical tips and personal experience. I have applied everything I know from the accountability sobriety offers and daily work required to stay mentally well in business. As a child I always wanted to be a therapist, I am happier as just another recovering alcoholic with practical life and business skills. I have never forgotten where I came from in life or in business. Both are required to maintain a level of humility with a lifetime of experience.

A Pocketful of Virtues, Book One is an engaging and insightful rhyming book for children that introduces several impactful virtues and provides a foundation for conversations about what they mean in a child's everyday life. Book One of the four book series introduces the following virtues: Kindness, Perseverance, Curiosity, and Patience.Believing that virtues help to form a child's character, this book provides a way to introduce and talk about these characteristics through age appropriate examples and illustrations. Virtues are often learned through imitation and habit and unfortunately not every child has a positive family role model. Written by an admittedly fallible author, the content introduces virtues without judgment. It is the author's hope to expose more children to these virtues via other adults, educational institutions, community programs, and from their peers as well. The book does not have any religious references and is accessible and appropriate for groups of children from various cultures. A Pocketful of Virtues focuses on universal behaviors that children could aspire to that will have a positive impact on their lives and the lives of others. Recognizing that virtues can be interpreted and taught in various ways, the book is meant to provide a foundation for a thoughtful discussion with a trusted source so that the children can formulate their own ideals and behaviors. Thanks to several parents who contributed ideas, there are questions and activities at the end of the book to help explore the virtues with the child/children in a more personal way.The completed series will cover sixteen virtues; four in each book. Book One is complete and Books Two - Four will be completed by January 2021.
