This new millennium has ushered in major global shifts. Technological advancements are shaping a brand new world and changing how people live. The Millennial generation is bringing significant changes to the workplace, and the shrinking global village is making each of us more aware of how we live with one another. All of these changes are pointing to a revolutionary shift in leadership. Models used over the last century are becoming ineffective and having adverse effects on society's advancement. The Millennial Leadership model is designed for this new millennium. Though designed from trends related to Millennials, this leadership model is for every generation. In the next five years, all leaders will need to shift if they want to remain relevant and effective. The Millennial Leader will be proficient at: Being a Facilitator: leaders need to be brokers of their followers' success, leveraging their own platform for the betterment of others. Being a Mentor: leaders need to teach what they know and systematically develop leaders under them to grow the overall leadership quotient. Being a Futurist: leaders need to keep up with the speed of change by having the tools and skills to see the future before it is the present. Being a Coach: leaders need to coach others to think, act, and make decisions rather than giving orders and pointing the way. The Millennial Leadership model is the answer to the growing leadership conundrum created by the new world being built. Currently, we feel the problem in subtle ways where we can't place our fingers on it. Over the next five years, the problem will become an avalanche and leaders who fail to develop these roles in the Millennial Leadership model will find themselves swept out into the sea of ineffectiveness.

The Hebrew word "shalom" doesn't just mean "peace." At its core, "shalom" means "wholeness." That's why it's translated throughout the Bible with words like health, welfare, peace, safety, prosperity, calm, success, well-being, close friendship, completeness, and more. This word-study workbook takes the reader step-by-step through the key scriptures which portray this powerful Hebrew word in its wide variety of meanings. For each scripture, the original Hebrew phrase containing the word "shalom" is shown, followed by the verse's full context in English. Various Bible translations of each verse are included for convenient cross-translation comparison. This book also teaches the reader how to easily find and recognize the Hebrew root letters of "shalom" in each verse, even if the reader has never seen Hebrew letters before. The last lesson of the book concludes with a brief New Testament word study on a Biblical Greek word for "peace" - "eirene" - demonstrating how the Hebraic concept of "shalom" continues to be expressed throughout the New Testament.

Charles Darwin joined HMS Beagle when he was just 22 at the request of Captain FitzRoy, who wanted to have a naturalist on board. The ship set sail from Plymouth Sound on 27 December 1831 and returned nearly five years later on 2 October 1836. The journey took Darwin from the Cape de Verde Islands to Mauritius, visiting locations as varied as Brazil, Tierra del Fuego, the Galapagos archipelago, South Africa, New Zealand and the Azores. Darwin’s book is a vivid travel diary of this trip with personal anecdotes and observations on religious beliefs and racial typecasting, as well as a detailed scientific field journal covering biology, geology and anthropology. He found bones of extinct mammals, experienced volcanoes and discovered many new bird species. The book was instantly acclaimed and the insights he gained through his investigations eventually led to his theory of natural selection.

Identifying the Complex Causes of Civil War

Identifying the Complex Causes of Civil War

Springer Nature Switzerland AG

This book uses machine-learning to identify the causes of conflict from among the top predictors of conflict. This methodology elevates some complex causal pathways that cause civil conflict over others, thus teasing out the complex interrelationships between the most important variables that cause civil conflict. Success in this realm will lead to scientific theories of conflict that will be useful in preventing and ending civil conflict. After setting out a current review of the literature and a case for using machine learning to analyze and predict civil conflict, the authors lay out the data set, important variables, and investigative strategy of their methodology. The authors then investigate institutional causes, economic causes, and sociological causes for civil conflict, and how that feeds into their model. The methodology provides an identifiable pathway for specifying causal models. This book will be of interest to scholars in the areas of economics, political science, sociology, and artificial intelligence who want to learn more about leveraging machine learning technologies to solve problems and who are invested in preventing civil conflict.
