Health and fitness professionals are frequently frustrated at their inability to help clients achieve long-standing health behaviour changes and are seeking new, scientifically sound, alternative approaches which are more effective. This handbook has been written as a guide for health and fitness professionals helping clients through the process of lifestyle change with a special emphasis on: eating a more healthy diet, achieving and maintaining a healthy weight and becoming more physically active. Providing cautionary advice hardly ever works: it must be combined with effective strategies to change clients' behaviour. Health promotion, primary care, multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working are high on the political agenda. This book encompasses all these issues. Healthcare professionals are realising that their role as 'change agents', as opposed to information providers, requires special skills. Although a wide range of scientific information is available, there is very litle to assist professionals to apply it affectively to get results. No other similar publication exists in the UK marketplace or, probably, the USA.
The Son of Hugo Grey is a young adult science fiction novel with an unexpected twist. Dainen Romes leads a rather dull life until he helps an old man named Hugo Grey to the hospital after a heart attack. Despite never having met Hugo before, Dainen promises to take care of his son after his death. Dainen makes his way to the address on the small piece of paper Hugo gave him, but the son he finds there is not quite what he expected. "He wondered about this son. Considering Hugo's age, Dainen guessed the son would be at least in his thirties. He must have a medical condition that required him to be taken care of. The son appeared, calmly descending the stairs, one hand on the railing, with upright posture and smooth movement. He was most definitely not what Dainen had pictured. The strangest part was his age. He seemed no older than seventeen. He stood at the bottom of the stairs, blinked at Dainen without expression, and gave him one simple nod. "Good afternoon," he said, not asking any questions about why a stranger was standing in his home."

In January 2020, fires ravaged eastern Australia, destroying homes, devastating native flora, and killing wildlife. Floods followed, causing more damage while also providing much needed water. This book captures the observations of the recovery on one property at Badja, New South Wales, from snuffling echidnas to mobs of kangaroos; from tiny ladybirds to colourful butterflies; from intricate orchids to towering eucalypts. In over 1,300 photographs, labelled with both the common and scientific name, the observations are interspersed with the author's memories and what she learnt along the way.
This rhyming book introduces the idea of feelings as information in a fun and experiential way and encourages children to connect with the bodies in order to experience true connection and healthy expression of emotion. This book is intended as a conversation starter for children, parents, teachers and caregivers to explore feelings and emotion, allowing young people to build healthy relationships with their bodies, support emotional development and positive mental health. Did you know you have a best friend who is with you every single moment of every single day? A friend who loves you, supports you and looks out for you. It's your body Our bodies are our closest friends and they help us experience all of our feelings- and all of our life- whether we're a child, adult or even an animal This book introduces children to the concept of Feelings as Information as taught in the AWARE TherapyTM Model of Animal Wisdom, create by Meg Kirby of The Equine Psychotherapy Institute. Understanding the experience of emotions and feeling safe in our bodies as we experience them is one of the fundamental elements of developing a healthy relationship, not only with one's feelings but also with the self. Through teaching children to understand their experience, we open up a conversation where feelings are not right or wrong, they just are, and can then support children to regulate their emotions, make informed choices and listen to their own inner guidance as they grow and develop. This sets children up for greater emotional and mental health, resilience and overall wellbeing as they grow. Although written for young children, this book contains a message that speaks to all age groups, including adults who may never have received these teachings or support. This book is intentionally a rhyming book as rhythm and pace support regulation, which are important ingredients when children and adults are co regulating and also creates a safer container for body awareness. This bonus Activity Book edition offers 2 books in 1, with questions to support readers on their own unique body awareness journey. This book has been created with the support of and input from professional Accredited Mental Health Social Workers, Early Childhood Educators, School Teachers and mothers.

A compass in the storm of change. The change of humanity from separation to Oneness, from illusion to clarity, from war to peace, has been predicted and discussed for thousands of years. It is no longer in the distant future. It is upon us now. And as with any major change it involves destruction as well as construction. The old must be dismantled to make way for the new. This can involve times of conflict between the old and the new, before some degree of settling allows the evolution of the new.We are now living through that time of conflict, destruction, change and ultimately renewal. Our environment mirrors that change and confusion with quakes, tornados, fires, volcanos and bizarre weather. Our human societies mirror it with social and political unrest and turmoil. People feel disoriented by the changes that seem to be happening so fast and in such unprecedented ways. How do we survive and navigate these extreme times, when polarities seem stretched to their utmost? As you journey through these changing times you will find direction, solace and insight here, helping you not only weather the storm, but come through it into clear skies dancing.
