Simon Moretti is known for his enigmatic exhibition works, presenting displays that engage with questions of agency, temporality, automatism, desire and masculinity. Incorporating appropriated images and archives as well as curatorial and publishing projects, often made in collaboration with other artists, his work addresses the role of ‘curating as practice’. Presented as a non-chronological visual essay, this publication surveys 10 years of collage works by Moretti. It includes text contributions from writer Craig Burnett, curator and art historian Yuval Etgar, novelists Deborah Levy and Chloe Aridjis, and a conversation with Andrew Durbin, editor-in-chief of frieze magazine.

Simon Templar was named after a suave and heroic man of action, but he seems to lack the finer points of his namesake. Slightly hapless, occasionally hopeless, and prone to being chased by angry strangers, he is the everyman who doesn't fit. When his drunken father-in-law divulges a shocking truth about the love of Simon's life and takes away his one chance at happiness, it seems the world will always kick him where it hurts. Yet in the aftermath of this revelation Simon is determined to rebuild his life, hopes and dreams. Or at least have a life, hopes and dreams. With the support of his best buddy Sean, and embracing a dating frenzy that would put a lothario to shame (albeit a not particularly successful lothario), Simon goes on a journey of self-discovery. Can he learn to trust again, and finally understand the true meaning of love? In the best traditions of Richard Curtis and David Nicholls, Simon says is a wonderful bittersweet comedy of love, life and longing, and the perfect read for any rom-com fan.

British conceptual artist Simon Starling (born 1967) interrogates the histories of art and science, as well as other subjects such as economic and environmental issues, through a wide variety of media including film, installation and photography. Published for his first survey exhibition at a major American museum, Simon Starling: Metamorphology highlights a fundamental principle of Starling’s practice: an almost alchemistic conception of the transformative potential of art, or of transformation as art. The Turner Prize–winning artist’s working method constitutes recycling, both literally and figuratively: repurposing existing materials for new, artistic aims; retelling existing stories to produce new historical insights; linking, looping and remaking. This catalogue accompanies an exhibition organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in tandem with the Arts Club of Chicago, and features essays by MCA Chicago senior curator Dieter Roelstraete, Arts Club of Chicago executive director Janine Mileaf in collaboration with Simon Starling, and Tate Modern curator Mark Godfrey.
